from one of my best friends back in Maine. That was so nice of her! She called me the other day to make sure she got my address correct. I assumed she was sending a Christmas card. I wasn't expecting all this stuff. We're going to wait until Christmas to open up the presents.
What actually makes me happiest about getting these presents from her is that she's actually doing well enough financially to be able to buy us presents. She comes from a family of 10 kids, all raised by just their mom because their dad ditched them shortly after the 10th child was born. (BTW, her mom must be the best mom in the world, because she somehow managed to raise 10 wonderful kids all by herself.) My friend gave birth her daughter a few months after graduating high school, when she was just 18. Needless to say, she's always been very poor.
Last year she got married to a really great guy who has a son about three years older than her daughter. The kids get along just like they are brother and sister. They are doing well money wise because her husband has his own business training emergency workers for special situations (like chemicals spills etc.), and she works full time with him at this business too. I'm just happy things seem to be working out well for her because she deserves it more then anyone I know. :)
