Just an aside, nothing to do with the poll: I HATE the name &"Trista" it sounds simultaneously slutty and airheaded, has a connotation of sadness, like the spanish "triste", and sounds like "tryst".

Why would anyone call their child "Trista"?

I would have voted for it. I've often wanted to ask a mother why her 8 year old daughters ass was hanging out of the bottom of her hip hugging shorts. It's a damn shame when girls whose age comprises of a single digit are worried about looking sexy, and not running around giggling at the funny looking adults.

But since it wasn't an option, I voted for Psuedo patriotism. This gets my blood boiling like no other subject. I could slap these phony bastards. It's my country, and I love it all the time, not just when its fashionable!

Mother and daughter at the Chinese restaurant. Girl can't be more than 12, wearing a shirt that says "Foxy". Why any mother would let a 12 year old wear that is beyond me. Since when do we promote the idea that pre-teens are "Foxy"? Sick, sick, sick.

The only choice I don't find nauseating is the childrens name choice. Mostly because I have a friend who named his kid Dylan(He's a huge Bob Dylan fan, seen him like 50 times or something).

My vote went to the obvious choice: The post 9/11 nationalism.

Because it is so cynical. It's like King Lear asking his daughters to tell him, in the most flattering language possible, how much they love him. Goneril and Reagan, the unworthy liars, come up with good lines of flowery bs. Cordelia, who truly loves her father, can't bring herself to bs him and says she loves him because he is her father and that is their bond. He considers her disloyal for not kissing his butt. The current trend of patriotism is the same thing.

17. Going to the US and seeing everything draped in flag stuff...

...with girls in hip-huggers and crop tops with the tops of their thong underwear sticking out the back running a close second (annoys me far more than guys in overly baggy pants because at least you can't see *their* ass cracks!), ahead of disgusting children's names (I would say "Tiffany," "Brittany," "Jordan," "Tyler," "Taylor," "Tucker," "Fisher," and "McKenzie" moreso than "Dylan" and "Caitlyn," being as my sister's named Caitlyn, and she's 19 years old!) by a head.

Why do parents name their little *girls* "Taylor," "Fisher," and "McKenzie"? Please explain this to me!

Going to the US and seeing people with their giant SUVs draped in "Ye're wi' us or ye're agin us" stuff annoys me, because I've been categorically forbidden to flip anyone off while in a country that allows handgun possession. :(
