Computer problem

A couple days ago I got a power “bump” it shutdown the computer and screwed up my color, the font on the net is now “blue” and I do not seem to be able to change it. It also will not allow me to change to black on my office products. I thought black was default color for font? Any thoughts, or do I need to consider reloading all XP.

1. Sounds like you might need to reload XP,
of (gag) call Microsoft help desk. I recently had to deal with SBC Yahoo support and they were great, so maybe Microsoft wouldn't be TOO bad either. Good luck! No other ideas.

3. Internet Explorer 6.
I think it is something in XP though because of the color on office products.

5. Choose: Edit; Preferences;
Double click Appearances; Colors
Then choose your colors.

It this does not work, tell what happens.

8. Is it just text you have created in Office?
If so, you can easily do a repair from your office disks.

I have office as well, but just found out about OpenOffice.org, an Office suite replacement that was once only available for Linux users and now available for Windows. And it's free! Has everything nost people need (except Outlook, but there's Other freebie programs if you need it) and then some. It will even let you save in PDF format! Check it out!

4. In IE 6, try clicking on the word "tools" at the top of the screen...
Then click on internet options from the drop down menu...

On the bottom left, there is a button called "colors" click on it.

There is a check box asking if you want to use windows colors. If you uncheck this box, you can have access to color selection for text and background.

Hope this helps.

9. Have You Tried System Restore?
XP has built in bookmarks that store the settings at every change. I would try that first.
