17. Glad to hear!!1 Another great movie is----
Vera Drake,in the theaters now.

I E-mailed both of my daughters recommending it after I saw it last week. It's a pro-choice message and an astonishing acting performance by Imelda Staunton.

2. Being There should definitely be the first one
The rest in no particular order.

I didn't know anyone liked The Limey remake. I thought it was horrible when compared to the original.

8. Get Carter
Not to be confused with Stallone's version of Get Carter.

Not really an original of The Limey, but The Limey was based on the original Get Carter.

after the movie ended, they showed a scene they filmed where Peter Sellers was talking about a guy (i think his name was Rafael) where he just couldn't get through his lines without bursting into laughter ...

i've been trying to find the script from this scene on the web ... no luck so far ... any tips ??

5. Local Hero.
Plucky Scottish villagers can't wait to stick it to a soulless American oil company.

Except the oil company is run by the benevolent star-gazer, Mr. Happer.

Beautiful film.

9. No particular order.
Edited on Fri Nov-26-04 07:46 PM by Flammable Materials
Network
Star Wars
The Discovery Of Heaven
Hard Core Logo
Brazil
Amelie
I Stand Alone (Seul Contre Tous)
Pulp Fiction
A Clockwork Orange
Last Summer

Sadly, #3 is only available as a Dutch import DVD, and #10 is not available on DVD at all.

"I Stand Alone" is an intense movie, and I do not recommend it to anyone but those with the utmost appreciation for nihilism.

20. Places In The Heart Is A Real Pretty Movies
as is Steal Magnolias...

Sally Field is a really good actress...

Steel Magnolias was Julia Roberts' second movie... She's done some decent work since then but nothing to equal her performance in Steel Magnolias....

I like most genres except Science Fiction.... My girlfriend and I went to see Terminator 2 which came out around the same time as Dances With Wolves... I said I liked Dances With Wolves a lot better...

Here's some more good flicks....

Colors
The Apostle
Boyz In The Hood (the best in the genre)
Hangin With The Homeboyz
Leaving Las Vegas

In no particular order, I've loved:

1. Sense and Sensibility (Emma Thompson version)
2. Being There
3. Seabiscuit
4. Notorious
5. To Kill a Mockingbird

25. how about the string of
Rutger Hauer films from the 80's?

Aside from BladeRunner and Blood of Heroes, I can't remember the names of the others, but it was like a little genre all to itself.

Oh, the one with Mimi Rogers, with the exploding collars......
Heh, they'll keep popping up on me all night.
