First of all, I can't get that plastic thing that's holding the legs together off the turkey. Why do they do that? Second, how often should I baste the darn thing? Turkey experts, please respond.
A 23 pound bird for just the two of us, it ought to be ready around 1:30 or 2pm. We're gonna can up the rest of it for quick meals the rest of the winter. Happy Thanksgiving to all of DU! Life is good.
