Need Advice, Three Strange calls just came in
on my cell phone..all within fifteen minutes of each other, and all from three different cities. Chicago, and somewhere in PA and another from Florida.

ONe of them just called back asking for some weird name, and had a pretty thick accent, and I saved the message he had left earlier, but what the hell is this, I wonder?

2. I get weird calls similar to that but more regional
My home phone is one digit different than one of the local radio stations. Had a call two weeks ago at 1am from some drunk ladies wanting me play a song for them.

6. Your number may have
been incorrectly printed in an ad somewhere - that happened to me once. After the eighth call in two days, I asked the man who called (up to then, everybody spoke Spanish only) what the deal was, and he said my number was in an ad for a job.

8. When I first got my number 7 years ago
I got repeated late night calls for a certain young lady who, um, appeared to be working her way through college. Evidently, she was one digit away and her calls rolled over to my number when she was on the phone. Finally, I had had it and told the next caller to fuck right off and leave me the fuck alone and go knock on her door if he was that horny. It was her brother. Oops.

12. How long have you had the phone?
Maybe somebody else had the number before you. Or maybe the number is close to somebody else's number.

We get the occasional call from somebody who's written down the wrong number or who misdials -- for a while, the same person called, over and over. They always asked for the same person, and it was usually around ten at night. When we finally asked, it turned out it was a transposed number when they dialed -- somebody had the two digits in the four-digit end sequence reversed, and instead of dialing it manually, they'd hit 'redial' and get us again.

14. Just them " I killed "so-and-so" and took their phone, fuck off!"
Edited on Sat Nov-13-04 12:50 AM by sleipnir
That'll rile 'em up and shut them up at the same time!

Now, it might get a few calls to the police, but what the hell, it's probably worth the risk.

16. i have a dumb ass who has been giving my number
as his, he just moved into town and seems to not know his phone number, i caught on quick, the guy could have several jobs if he had given the right number out! he applied at the local grocery store, one that's negioating with labor over contracts, damn do they call a lot! never when i'm home or by the phone though. i've been considering going in for an interview for the grocery store and pretending to be the guy. "is that what i put on the application?, well yeah then i guess that's what i musta said. say, how do i get around this drug test thing anyway?"
