"That's just 100,000 less Aye-rabs!"
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 12:30 PM by bif
From a guy in a bar a few minutes ago after I said, "Did you her the latest civilian death toll was estimated at 100,000 in Iraq?"

I felt like punching the guy. Instead I just said, "What, they're not human beings?'

He walked out of the bar.

4. Bush has a big following among those who want dead arabs, whether
involved in 9/11 or not. Bush's indiscriminate war doesn't bother them at all.

10. Why shouldn't we count the Iraqi soldiers?
They were defending their country against a foreign invasion.

8. But I thought we were there to help the Iraqis. Right?
Doesn't * himself say so? Or does the guy in the bar just think that's "code".

What were you doing in a bar soearly, if you don't mind me asking?

9. 100,000 less may equal 1 million more willing to strap TNT to him/herself
and walk near some/any American(s) within walking distance.

13. export democracy, not help
Let's be honest. Whatever we say our reason was, it never was really about helping the Iraqis.

I think that we wanted to put a democracy in the Middle East. You know, expand the franchise, sort of like a WalMart or a Starbucks or a McDonald's.

We figured that Iraq would be the neighborhood where there was the least resistance to the franchise. I'm pretty sure those making the decisions realized that there were no WMDs.

15. No war in history has ever been started for purely humanitarian reasons
Greed. Alliances. Retaliation. Boredom.

There are quite a few reasons for warring it up. Helping people, no matter their suffering, isn't one of them. That was simply reason #2 trotted out when people outside the administration started noticing a lack of Doomesday Weapons in Iraq.
