The Palm Beach Post broke my deer!

Sometimes if I am up in the we hours, around 4:30 or so, I hear this massive bump that scares the crap out of me, even though it's happened a few times now. That noise would be a projectile, a.k.a. my Palm Beach Post, striking my front door.

(I live on the 2nd floor and have an angled staircase so they must not come all the way up.)

So anyway I am sleeping in and my dear girlfriend (the brains of the operation ;-)) is up early and I hear her say "oh no!" when she stepped out front.

This morning's PBP has broken the head off a small statue of a deer we have on our entranceway. It only broke in 2 pieces, head and body, so with a little glue you won't even be able to tell.

Still, I called to complain but was real nice about it. I said "I really don't want to get anyone in trouble, and it's not that big a deal, but can you please tell them to watch out with the breaking shit in front of my house with the paper" Not in those exact words, but I made it a point to be real nice and say that I didn't want anyone to get yelled at, just for them to ease up a little, as we have potted plants and other such knicks and/or knacks out there.

Now I need to find some good glue. :shrug:

1. gorilla, JB weld and 5 minute epoxy... I can recommend all three.

Depends on the application and the color. the last is clear.

I'm sorry about your deer! Hopefully, the paper flinger will catch on to the "not a bright idea" concept....

2. Thanks...it's not solid..

... it's hollow, with the outter wall being about 3/16 of an inch thick or so, and appears to be made of some kind of sculptor's plaster, textured on the outside and painted brown like a deer.

I think some good clear epoxy might do the job.

3. Try nail glue, believe it or not!

I've stumbled upon this great trick! Get the nail glue that Sally Beauty Supply (crap company to work for, but most they stuff is good) the kind that comes in a blue colored tube. I've glued damn near ANYTHING back together with it. My rear-view mirrow! The handle to my oven! It's the same as your run of the mill super glue, but it's formulate to NOT harm your skin so much (since it's made for nails!) and if you get any on your skin, all you need to get it off is nail polish remover, you know the kind W huffs when no one's around!

5. we get flipped off by our deliverywoman

well, not really. but we get the afternoon edition so at around 3pm our paper gets delivered. she has a maroon minivan and she careens around the court- we have a looong driveway with a loop at the end- and she throws the paper onto the sidewalk and the way her hand lets go of the paper it totally looks like she's flipping us off. it's hilarious. and then one day, she stopped by to drop off some food (edit: i work at a food bank/rescue org) and introduced herself, and we can't make jokes about it anymore because she's a real person now.
