Poll question: Most Destroyed Comedian
Which funnyman/lady has gone from being hilarious to unbearably unfunny to the greatest degree?

Dennis Miller is not included, because nobody would vote for anyone else.

Gallagher is also not included, because he never was funny.

1. Jerry Seinfeld was NEVER funny either
ducking for the molotov headed in my direction...

However, did anyone see Ellen Degeneres' last HBO special... It was VERY funny. She may actually be a better stand-up than before the sitcom.

3. Seinfeld's show was funny. His standup, not so much
And I hold him directly responsible for inflicting Paul Reiser on the world.

4. Wait, I gotta take issue with some of these
What happened to Carlin to make you call him "failed"? He's just not doing as much as he used to, that's all. He's still as funny as he used to be, if only a little more bitter than he used to be about life in general. As for pretty much all the rest, with the possible exception of Steve Martin, none of those people were ever really that funny, ESPECIALLY Robin Williams, unless you find unfunny manic ramblings and the continued use of "jive slang" three decades after its heyday funny. Robin Williams is like the comedian version the Sgt. Peppers record cover: all pop culture references and no actual humor.

8. I agree
Though I find Williams, Carlin and Brooks to be geniuses. The rest are what I would say are failures and buffonish fools

9. The Carlinomatic 2000
I dunno, I'd tend to agree that Carlin's taken a dive. He hasn't fallen as far as some others, but ...

My brother encapsulates the problem with a mock advertiser for the Carlinomatic 2000, a notional computer program for writing your own George Carlin joke of the day. It works a little like a Mad-Libs.

Step 1: Select keyword from random list.
Step 2: "You know that {keyword}? F*CK EEEMMM."
Step 3: Hilarity ensues.

Basically, George has stopped being a guy who makes you laugh, and become someone desperately in need of a laugh.

12. From what I've heard
George Carlin was pretty much always hit and miss.
He'll come out with a classic and then follow it with some drudgery. Thew thing that I like best about him is that he does have a way of cutting straight to the point and highlighting just how ridiculous are some of our social mores - especially our use of language. That's thin ice and, in my eyes, sometimes he falls through and sinks. Or he beats the point far beyond the point at which it's either fuinny or even interesting.

Robin Williams, though - I'll probably always dig that crazy cat.

10. That is who I was looking to vote for.
To think I once found his political commentary - sharp and witty. Now I hear it as shrill and desperate.

7. Well, it's debateable whether or not he was ever funny, but...
Dennis "I have no career, so I'll suck Rupert Murdoch's cock to get one" Miller has definitely fallen harder and faster than any alleged comedian in history. (The dead ones excepted, of course)

11. Can't vote because
they all fall into one of two categories:

(a) never were funny, to me

(b) still are funny, to me

Take my wife.....please!

13. you're caught in a trap?????
;-)

I voted for Cheddar Cheese aka Chevy Chase.......in my youth I found him funny at the SNL Update desk.......he just seems tired and pathetic now.....I remember him making a complete arse of himself on Bill Maher's old PI in a "debate" with Steven Boccho.

On a reverse note I now find Ellen DeGenneres VERY funny and endearing, although her early stand up routine was, to me, quite un-funny.

15. Yeah, I can't walk out
Because someone stuck me in this endless loop of a gif............

Cheddar....I mean, Chevy.....is like a lot of them, especially the "Saturday Night Live" alumni. Maybe he'll make a comeback. Might be the perfect time for "National Lampoon's Washington Vacation."

DC, that is.

Then again, we've already got a bumbling fool hogging the spotlight in DC.

16. I voted for Jerry Lewis and it's too true about him
The movies he made after the breakup with Dino are absolutely hilarious. His "Nutty Professor" is a work of genius. But now he's too solemn. Comedians should be serious but not solemn.
