So I finally gave the "SHut the fuck up" speech to the co-workers
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 01:32 PM by HEyHEY
See, all these middle aged women sit around and jaw about their ex-husbands while in the office or outside smoking.
I was hanging out with some reporters from another paper last night that also doubles as our company's Southern HEadquarters. They told me the big boss knows all they do is smoke and yak all day and they know it's not my fault the paper gets done later than it should. So that felt GREAT! It's great to know you aren't alone.
So this moring I went to work with a bit of momentum. And when they began pissing and moaning one of the women said "You need to calm down" to another women bitching about her ex.
I finally piped up and said "This whole office needs to calm down, stop talking about it, you're just getting riled up and nothing is getting done."

Yes, not exactly the heavy hand of a crazy motha fucka...but I do what I can.

They just looked at me.

1. Edit your post
I'm sure you meant, "...not my fault..." rather than, "...now my fault...".

7. Nope - I never proof read them but what I can't figure out....
I when I type a story they are close to flawless for typos.... when I post here, it's rampant - I guess I'm just not as careful here.

3. where's the part where you tell them
the big boss is hip to their shit?

I hate working in an office. You have my sympathy. Tell those hags they're lucky they don't live in the states! Now THAT would be "the heavy hand of a crazy motha fucka" you are looking for :)

9. should I have called them bitches? :)
and that's 'miss_kitty', for the language polizei in you my friend...:D

'chat' would be more along the lines of 'parler' en françois

And as it's hag-sorry tigereye, if I didn't say something because it offended someone at sometime, I would end up not saying anything at all...If YOU choose not to use the term, I won't be offended. :)

10. as a woman of a certain age = midlife
I just dislike the term. However, many of those offensive terms have other meanings - I do have a bit of the Jungian in me, so I try to be open-minded. Normally I am extremely tolerant of pretty much anything, but as an old school feminist, some of those terms for women get my goat! :) And I am not much of a language policewoman either.

11. HEY! :)
:hi: I'm their age too...But that term was meant as a reflection of the whole package HEyHEY described, and mainly the whiny moaning whingeing junk. If he'd been talking about the middle aged ladies in his office who brought him cookies and invited him over for dinner with the family from time to time, I definitely would not have referred to them as 'hags.' If they were 22 year-olds out smoking, screwin the pooch and generally bringing done the mood of the office, they'dve earned the appellation of 'hags' from me as well... :) But I understand people have words they don't cotton to.

13. it's just all those years of reading Ms. !
yeah those ladies in his office give the rest of us a bad name. I just don't like any of those words applied to women and I try not to apply them to men, either. I run around the board sometimes trying to get people to not describe women media figures as "whores" either. :hi:

22. lol! great pseudo philosophy there. That is one way to deflect a question
---the thing I hate about gender specific insults is that they are usually against women, and always demean her sexual attractiveness as judged by men (or the fuckability test, as I like to call it)--conflating any assinine behaviors with physical characteristics that she probably can't do anything about. Similar frame of mind as insulting someone based on.... ohh...the color of one's skin? Used to be a time when people didn't "get" what was wrong with the N-word, but it has for most people, become understood as so irrationally hateful that people naturally avoid it and moderators censor it. I look forward to a time when a woman who needs to be chewed out for her behavior gets called what she is, not measured and judged for fuckability.

4. "They just looked at me"
You're a better man than I am. Their just standing there looking at me would have pushed me a little closer to the edge. I'm so glad that I don't work in any kind of supervisory position anymore. It just made me hate people when I did.

21. woo hoo!! I just got deleted! A milestone for me!
I used the N word, in order to try and make a point that gender specific language used to demean women is ok, but race specific insults are not!!

interesting.
