2 Questions for you tennis players

How long do pressurized balls normally last, and what kind of weather effects them the most?

1. I think it will depend largely on how good a player you are...

....I can't recall exactly, but I think they change balls during matches after the 7th and 11th games (and then so on) in professional tennis. I used to know definitely. But these people are really slamming them, so take that into consideration. If you're an average player and play a couple sets a week, I would think 3 weeks would be fine until you notice the difference.

As for the weather--this is an educated guess--I would assume humid weather would be the worst--the moisture gets on the balls and makes them heavier.

2. depends on the players

I'm a "hard" hitter when I can be (depends on the opponents). I can tell the difference in the 3rd set almost always and sometimes the second set on the same day. But, if I'm playing a "slow" hitter and play their game, I can use the same balls for 4,5, or more sets over many weeks (I often do this with my wife and friends and don't notice). In cold weather, I notice the difference more than in warm weather. I'd guess that if I took the same balls into warm weather they'd be better, but previously used balls are worse when it's cold.
