My baby is sick.....
you know they are really sick when they get really still and quiet. She was complaining about her throat this morning but I thought she just wanted to get out of early morning choir rehearsal at school.

Now she says her glands are swollen and I checked and she has a fever. Gave her meds and she conked out on the couch. No dinner.

Going to take her to the doctor in the morning. No matter how old they get, it's always sad when your baby is sick.

13. Aww..
Children are so sweet. I don't have any but I worked at an afterschool program for 5 years and I loved it.

Yes, at times they can be little monsters but I love the concept of being able to teach them things and then have them actually go out and accomplish it.

For example, at the afterschool program, I taught one kid how to throw a baseball better and then he practiced and practiced and finally did it the way I showed him.

That may be silly but I got so much out of working with children.

I hope to have at least one. I am gay so that may be tough but you never know.

14. Hey you can do it!
If my plumbing still worked, I'd have one for ya!

I agree, I am an eighth grade teacher and I LOVE kids, but mostly when they are 10 and up. Still the little ones are adorable (mostly! LOL!).

24. Aren't YOU sweet!!!!
Yeah they HAVE to be able to go to the bathroom unassissted in order for me to teach them. Sorry, that's just how it is for me.

5. It hurts like heck...
I hope she gets better soon.

My nipper is only 2, but even colds are hard to watch, especially when he coughs all night. We were in the hospital for blood tests (very bad jaundice) all the time for several weeks after he was born, so I'm a bit more adjusted to smaller things (I thought for sure he was going to die) now, but it still sucks.

Good luck!

10. I hear ya
when she was six months old, she had a temp of 106.7 We FREAKED OUT and raced her to the ER.

She had the coxsackie virus, whatever the heck that is. Just had to sleep for two days and was better. Weird. That temp was really super scary.

27. I probably would have exploded
We rushed him to emergency the first time he really vomited. That was a big mistake and he just had the flu, but because of the circumstances it seemed much worse.

7. Awful!
There is a lot of crap going around. Whatever it is, it seems to be taking out my co-workers for a week at a time. It's hard when your kids get sick because you feel so helpless. Poor baby! Hang in there, mom!

9. I hope she gets over it soon...
It seems when school starts...the cold and flu season kicks in. My wife got sick and she hasn't been teaching headstart for two weeks. Now this week I have been fighting something. I have had a headache that just won't go away all day..

Give Lil Moonbeam lots of fluids, rest and TLC....

I hope she's better, soon. It is sad when they get sick. It's worse than being sick yourself. My littlest just got over a cold. Give her a hug for me when she wakes up

16. I just checked on her
it's just not normal to see a nine year old totally wiped out in bed at 7:20. I gave her acetominophen but she is still burning up.

Thanks! Thanks to everyone! Just had to post, she hasn't been sick in a long time and I forgot how much it bothers me....

My husband and I get very concerned when our dog is sick. Having a sick kid must be a lot worse.

18. You're only a mess about it for the first year or so
then you get used to it. Then they aren't sick for a LONG time, and suddenly get very sick and scare the crap out of you all over again!

Nah, you'll be great! Believe me, if ***I*** can be a decent mother, almost anyone can. I had a HORRID role model for a mother!!!

i wish i could help more substantially, but i won't be able to (yet)

it sounds just like something that'll come and go, however. a hug and a little warm milk and cookies might do the trick, though! good luck!

28. I understand and send positive vibes and prayers.
My wife does not cry and sob. She screams and shouts but that is another story. I came home from work to find my wife cradling our then two week old daughter on our bed. When I asked what was wrong my wife burst out crying that our baby was sick. She had the sniffles. This devastated my wife. I knew then just how precious our children are and at the same time how vulnerable we are as parents.

For the throat I recommend Vicks chloreseptic. It has numbing things in it..should stop the pain.

31. Hug her for me, honey. Give her tea with honey or warm water with lemon.
it helps sore throats. Just got my flu shot. I hope it works. Could just be a start of school bug. I hope it passes soon.
