so long as you know that 8 times 8 is 64
8 into 68 goes 8 times with 4 left over
4 is half of 8
so 68 divided by 8 is 8.5

just take out a calculator, type 68, hit the divide sign, hit 80, hit "equals."

;-)

5. 85%
(68 x 100)/80 = 6800/80 = 680/8 = 85

11. Seriously, dude. You really shouldn't be posting threads like this.
You should be trying to learn percentages, unless you're no older than 9. You'll kinda need them.

14. From Grade School. . .
. . . i still remember the flash card percentage contests. I've always been very good with numbers, but in 6th through 8th grades, the math classes always included work with ratios.

I still remember without even a second to calculate, all the fractions as percents from 1 to 20. (IOW, what percent is 4/7ths? What percent is 13/17ths? And so on.)

That game just stuck in my head and i was in grade school more than 35 years ago!

Thanks to those teachers that made learning a game. Good work folks!

13. I'd love for that to be a debate question for GW on Thursday
In fact, I fantasized about that in 2000 and again this year. Just some basic question to demonstrate how stupid he is.

Actually, 68 out of 80 is too strenuous an example. Just something like, "Mr. Bush, what is 40 percent of 40?" He would stagger for the full allotment and have no clue.

And it would be thrilling to watch the GOP spinners try to dismiss it as an unfair question and not representative of what a president needs to know. Remember that pop quiz from a Boston reporter in 2000?
