Poll question: How "free" is this free copy of Passion of the Christ?
So, what happens, they put you on a hundred email lists and a dozen snail mail exploitation companies? They hand deliver proselytizing fundie hordes to your door to save your world weary soul?

I'd like to at least try to watch the film but have no desire to pay - is this the way to do it? What happens?

1. "You must complete a sponsored offer"
Probably have to join AOL and keep it for 3 months.

Then you fill in another on-line form and get your DVD.

It's a nasty way to get the vid. Download it with BitTorrent instead.

3. Be prepared to get A TON of email and snail mail asking for donations.

They will try to convert you with their "prosperity theology", where you can buy your way to material wealth in this life by donating to their organizations (just plant that "seed money"). Best bet-----go rent the movie.

5. Rent it
Edited on Tue Sep-28-04 11:52 AM by skygazer
It's not like its that much. I rented it last week out of curiosity. I'm NOT a Christian - I guess I would best be described as an agnostic. I don't necessarily believe there is NOT a god but I don't necessarily believe there IS one either. I'm open minded. I figure I'll know when I die and since we all do that, there's no need to worry about it.

That said, I approached the movie not as some representation of The Truth but as a movie. I think its likely that Jesus was a real historical character so I looked at the movie as I look at most historical movies - just a movie. I don't get my history from movies - they never get it right.

As a movie, I actually thought it was pretty good. It told a compelling story. Do I believe the story to be true? No. Did I believe the story in Blazing Saddles was true? No but I enjoyed it. Some people get as misty eyed about the Star Wars movies as the Christian wackjobs get about the Passion. To me, they're just movies.

To balance things out, I followed the next night with Monty Python's Life of Brian. The Monty Python version is better.

6. Don't bother paying money for it.
If your library is still open, borrow it. Save yourself some cash.

While you're at it, borrow a few books along the lines of "young gymnasts" and some David Hamilton books, just to eff with their lists . . . (fundies reading pedophile starter books)
