Poll question: When The Call Goes Out To "DU-THIS-POLL"... Do You?
Discussion: Is the tactic "DU-ing" a poll so that it reflects the DU point of view any better or worse than when a poll has been "Freeped"? Is it payback? Equalizing? Skewing?

2. Hi Allen...
...I don't usually 'DU this poll' or 'Unfreep this poll' What the point? all these online polls are as scientific as reading tea leaves.

3. I only vote once
If that's DUing a poll, I do it. I get a vote, don't I?

5. As long as it is convenient.
So I do not do it if I have to register to a site or something.

Rating a Yahoo stroy is important because it is the highly rated stories that stay near the top.

For polls, although they are as unscientific as reading tea leaves (one person's joke), these polls do create a perception among the more easily influenced members of this country that are allowed to vote. Many people vote based on what is popular and not what is right. SO, if someone saw an online poll that said the Iraq war was supported by 85% of Americans, then that poll needs to be DUed to eliminate that perception that simpletons can be swayed by. However, I only vote once because I am not going to go through the hassle of killing my cookies etc to vote again.

7. I go right to the poll. Every.Single.Time.
I'm so predictable...

But I don't like the idea of the freepers getting the upper hand. We have to make our voices heard.

8. Me too
I do the same thing. I go every time. I never want to pass up a chance to vote against bush or the Iraq war or whatever the issue it.

16. Same here. Every time. It's activism, and I feel I should participate.
So I always vote whenever asked.

9. I like to get to the polls via the free republic
And vote for the liberal take. Not that it proves anything, other than that I like to surf at free republic and check out their opinions sometimes.

10. Spend time up-rating news stories, not non-poll junk.
It is far better to spend your time up-rating news stories than on junk like non-polls.

They are not votes. They are not scientific.

Nobody intelligent puts any stock in them. Anybody convinced one way is easily swayed the other by something else the next day.

On the other hand, if you up-rate a news story, then more people will read it and get informed. If the facts are on our side, then run with them!

11. "Nobody intelligent puts any stock in them."
Some talking heads do, as do their clueless listeners, many of whom vote. I think its worth a few clicks to unfreep a poll.

And I don't have a martini for 2 more hours...

Is your poll "DO YOU" or "DON'T YOU" DU a poll?

Or is it:

"Is there any difference between DUers doing vs. freepers doing it"?

I voted no, I don't do it. But now I'm not sure I answered right. Maybe a better question is "why do I care"?

:-)

15. No
I can't possibly conceive what good it does. I don't watch cable TV news all day and I don't care what polls they have.

17. I think you misunderstand freeping.
Freepers used to spend HOURS doing this crap. They'd vote, clear their cookies, vote again, clear their cookies.......ad infinitum.

My idea of DU-ing a poll is to go and vote, once.
