(AP) A man being chased by police dropped his fiancee's 8-month-old daughter out of a moving car, sending the baby tumbling across the highway in her car seat.

The girl was unhurt, but the man later was fatally injured in a crash.

Dana Bettin, 23, died Sunday, three days after the highway chase that ended when he crashed his fiancee's car into an unoccupied squad car.

Police began chasing Bettin after he was accused of domestic violence. By the time officers arrived, he had already left with the girlfriend's baby in the car.

7. It does make a good story but

I saw the video. He slowed the car to almost a complete stop, set the car seat on the highway, it tipped over. He drove away and basically committed suicide by running into a squad car that had a tire strip out to blow his tires. Over all, I think it was the right thing for him to do.
