What kind of kid doesn't like a substitute teacher?
Mine.

My daughter's first day of third grade and she was so excited and has been for weeks. We get there and are ready to meet the teacher, but her teacher is sick and they have a sub on the first day. You should have seen the look of disappointment on her face. Made this daddy sad. :(

Pre-school starts for the youngest tomorrow. I hope she has half the love of school as her older sister.

1. heheh
I still remember my start of 2nd Grade. I had a stomach bug and my mother wouldn't let me go to school. I was SOOO upset that I wouldn't get to meet my teacher and find out who my classmates were. I cried all day. I missed the first 3 days, and I was inconsolable.

2. Have you ever been a substitute ?
I can tell you stories.
On one occaisoin after a horrendous day of generally bad conduct in a class of incredibly distracted and kenetic 4th graders, one of the girls in the class came up to me and said " We made our last substitute teacher cry! ".

I thanked her but advised she may be crying after her teacher gets the notes I left
on her desk - and I took down NAMES !

I used to come into a class room with a clip board of referral forms.
I would make a point of noting behavior that violated rules, getting the child's name, writing it on the board and putting a big chalk mark under it. I told them they would get two. The third one meant a trip to the office.

let them hate so long as they fear - I hate to quote Caligula but sometimes I had to be the oppressor. But not always.

3. These kinds of kids...
Fat kids, skinny kids, kids that climb on rocks, tough kids, sissy kids, even kids with chicken pox. ;)

4. Any kids who has had me as a sub :)
Only if they thought it was going to be a free day. I always stayed with the teachers plan and did a full day of teaching.
