I'm pissed at some fellow Dems.
I'm pissed and embarassed. On Saturday, I was a passenger in a car driving on I-71 South from Columbus to Cincinnati, Ohio. The car is owned by one of my best friends, who was also a groomsman in my wedding. He is a Bush supporter, and has stickers on his car that state that. This includes the extremely distasteful "Kerry is Bin Laden's Man, Bush is Mine" sticker. Obviously, he and I don't see eye to eye on politics. However, he's been my friend since grade six, and I won't abandon him over political views.

During our trip, we were accosted by a blue Ford Focus that had the standard "John Kerry" sticker that we all have. The fucking assholes in this car were honking, flashing lights, flipping the bird, tailgating, pulling along side and acting as if they were going to sideswipe us, cursing out the windows, and throwing food at Drew's car. They did this for ten miles. Drew would slow down, they'd slow down, he'd speed up to 100 MPH to try to out run them, they'd stay there, he'd change lanes, they'd do the same.

They acted like I'd expect some fucking Freepers to act. I'm embarassed, and felt like I had to apologize for their behaviour, because we both support Senator Kerry. I'm as angry as I have ever been at these fucktards, and am thankful that they didn't kill us with their antics. I'll be back later today. Thanks for letting me vent.

1. That behavior is rude and dangerous no matter who does it.
I think your friend should have called the cops!

2. Deplorable
They not only hassled you guys, but they potentially endangered themselves and other motorists. Not smart at all.

Next time you see Drew, tell him one of the guys selling those "More Than One Finger" stickers is deeply embarrassed on the part of these hoodlums.

3. I don't think their behavior is as bad as having
a "Kerry is Bin Laden's Man" sticker on your car. They were stupid and dangerous but so is having that bumper sticker. I don't have a problem with someone that has a Bush sticker, but that would attract my attention.

14. Are you telling me...
that nearly causigng a possibly fatal wreck and committing assault is not as bad as having a bumper sticker? That is absurd on its face.

17. You never said that anyone nearly caused a possible fatal wreck.
You should be just as pissed at your friend for putting such an absurd bumper sticker on his car.

18. No, I shouldn't be.
He has the right to be an ass. Those assclowns don't have the right to do what they did. Some things are more important than politics, you should learn that.

It's the sticker.

He has to expect that sort of treatment if he sports a sticker that obnoxious. I wouldn't do it, and I don't condone it, but I can understand how others might. This is an extreme reaction, but people are crazy enough behind the wheel of a car without the added stimulus of that sticker.

19. Oh really?
"He has to expect that sort of treatment if he sports a sticker that obnoxious"

fill in the blanks: she has to expect that sort of treatment if she wore a skirt that short....
he has to expect that sort of treatment if he says he is gay...they should expect that sort of treatment if they show their faces around here, being black and all...etc..etc..

the comparisions are quite clear...and make me ill...Blaming the victim is pretty sick.

4. Sorry you had to go thought that.
First of all, that totally uncalled for! As much as I dislike the Chimp that is currently running for office, I will never lash out against his supporters. As a matter of fact, my supervisor is a strong Bush supporter, and he will not hesitate to lend a helping hand when I am in need for assistance, whether it be private or professional.

We as a society should understand, no matter what side of the party line you are on, we all still have to respect one another.

I don't know, these are just my thoughts!

7. I would have settled for a more tasteful honk and flip off
I mean, a "Kerry is bin Laden's man" sticker is outside the pale.

9. What do u think happens when they see Bush is a Nazi sticker?
Sorry..This has turned into a war and civility went out the windows with dead soldiers and lost jobs and poverty on the rise. I wouldn't ride in a car that had that sticker on it !

10. there is NEVER an excuse to endanger others on the road
the bumper sticker was extremely offensive and your friend might think a bit about that.
If someone put a sticker on their car that said, "Bring back slavery" or "9-11 was a good thing" they might expect to get harassed also.

But I repeat, there is no excuse for the behavior of the other car.

11. keep in mind the possibility (probability)
Edited on Tue Sep-07-04 10:12 AM by T Wolf
that it was not real Democrats in the other car. A documented dirty trick from the Nixon CREEP handbook was to put opposition stickers on your car and drive in the manner which you described. Then, the story gets passed about the behavior of "those" people. With the tactics that * has already used, this is probably already being done.

So, take the offensive with your "friend" and state that you believe it is just another page out of the Shift Liars strategy book.

12. Thank you, all for letting me vent.
Sorry I had to run off there, but I had to meet the cable guy at the house. My new hi-speed went in today. This is my very first post from my new home computer with hi-speed internet. I'll show this thread to Drew, once again, thank you, all. (Yeah, the sticker sucks)
