1. That's the first time I've heard of an advantage
The people I know who switched from cable to DSL were, without exception, unhappy about it. Now I can let them know that there is a bright side.

4. My cable is about 3 times faster than
my coworker's DSL.

If you need a Hurricane Charley to appreciate DSL, then I'd just as soon be unappreciative.

14. I had comcast roadrunner for years
Edited on Sun Aug-15-04 06:09 PM by midwayer
but hey when a disaster like Charley comes along and SPRINT has me back in touch with the rest of the world before Comcast can and I don't noticed that much difference in speed

You betcha baby..I'll take it

Although, I will admit, different areas of the country may experience

different situations

don't discount what people are going through down here

geographically things may be different

5. If my experience is any indication, cable is light years faster!
Sometimes, I have to log on and off up to three times to get a graphics-intensive website like DU to load at what I consider a reasonable speed.

I've called SBC, which has run line checks and insists that I have a 100% reading. And yet, I often feel like the goddamned DSL is barely faster than a dial-up connection!

No wonder they make you agree to a one-year contract with a $200 termination fee. If not for that, I've no doubt that a whole lot of DSL subscribers would cancel their service after the first month and get a cable modem. I sure as hell would!

7. All i can say is that SPRINT has me in contact with the rest
Edited on Sun Aug-15-04 06:11 PM by midwayer
of the world faster than COMCAST could pull it off

AND i have not been in contact with the rest of the world for almost 3 days now

no elect, no phone, no TV

and BTW

DO NOT DEPEND ON a WEATHER RADIO FOR YOUR INFO

these folks SUCK

When this thing was coming through

it was worthless, fortunately I had other local avenues of info

NWS SUCKS

COLLIER COUNTY WAS HIT WORSE THAn YOU MIGHT EXPECT OR WHAT NATIONAL TV MIGHT ADMIT

WE DID GET HIT

no question about it

My new const. stood up extremely well....but I owe much to the 40 foot tall cypress and aussie pines forest behind my house as well which served to break the wind

it was AWESUM

90 mph winds overhead

but we were still able to watch as our house faces to the north

they are rtunning stop lights and think they own the place

it's not looking pretty for the next few days here

you think i'm kidding?

I've been driving here for almost 14 years now and have never experienced assho9les like this before in my life

I drive the loop EVERY DAY
