13. UGH
These boys should be immediately castrated and lobotomized so their misplaced aggression can be abated.

14. Don't judge too quickly...
Not to condone their behavior; but I can't help but wonder how many scars they already have as a result of poor parenting or abuse.

Maybe what they really need is intense exposure to human decency and kindness.

Poor little puppy...

15. Yup, I Suspect The Kids Have Been Through Many Hells of Their
own perpetrated by the parents. It's not really a coincidence that the father was arrested for assault.

The children involved in this horrific incident are almost surely victims of abuse themselves...Not to excuse their behavior, but merely explain it...

That poor animal, my gut wrenches at this story...

17. He assaulted the suspected "narc" who tipped off the police
Broke his arm and shoulder with a chair leg, also caused concussions.

Parents should definitely be held as responsible as their children are sometimes.

20. That's true...

When I was a kid, I caught another kid who lived down the road torturing a cat. I won't go into details, just that it was horrible. I was for one of the few times in my life moved to violence, only because I felt in a moment of pure rage that's what it required to keep the animal from being killed. The cat, whom I named Pepper, later adopted my family and me as its people.

Anyway, on later reflection, I realized my assault was in fact reinforcing a lot of what had happened to the kid. His father was the block's troublesome alcoholic, and the screams from his children as he beat them could sometimes be heard up and down the street. My grandmother and others in the neighborhood eventually got together and filed a complaint against him, after which he was arrested. Notably, the jail sentence he received centered more on his assaulting a police officer who had come to investigate rather than the abuse of his children.

He had five children, two of which I've seen a few times over the years. They seem relatively stable and have decent lives. The kid who had been torturing the cat has been in and out of jail multiple times for various, violent offenses, some of which were sex crimes. I figure he's just working his way up to some ultimate expression of his rage.

21. How sad...
And sadder still, as much as you'd want to lay blame on the kid's father; he was most likely the victim of similar abuse as a child.

It's harder to excuse in an adult, because many of us have been there, and turned out "relatively stable". But abuse inflicted upon a child can cause permanent brain damage.

If only we could find a cure...

18. Looks like the boys picked up a few of Dad's habits
Since it seems the dad was beating someone with a chair leg

I never believed in force sterlization until I read crap like this. Obviously the genes passed from father to sons and they all need to be sterilized so we don't contaminate the gene pool

BTW, that Dregis Freeman is a real hero for what he did. I hope he gets recognizition from some groups in the area for trying to save that puppy.
