Outdoor Education
When you were in either sixth or seventh grade did your school district take you all to a camp for two weeks to learn "outdoor ed"? We did that in Montgomery County, MD, so I was wondering if any other school district does that.

1. Our kids go to
"outdoor science school" for 5 days including travel. I'm not sure if it is a state or county program; there are several sites around the state, and schools choose the site closest to them. It's usually a 5th grade thing.

Now, for real outdoor school, check out:

3. when I was in sixth grade I had a teacher who
took us into the woods frequently to collect specimens and learn.

we were very lucky to have woods near by...it used to be a former nuclear missile base that got closed in the late 70's

4. My 6th grade class took buses every day.
The outdoor camp was only 7 miles from home. What a rip-off! The other schools got to actually camp out! (I lived in a small mountain town in CA.)
