2. Some People Have Tried

And have gotten their teeth back after I pulled them out of my knuckles.

It comes from 30+ years of working construction-related fields I suppose.

8. Union Ironworkers & Pipefitters , tough bunch.
You learned real quick hanging with those guys. Once you won their hearts, none better to hang with. They always had your back.

12. I'm A Millwright
And I agree.

Another good group are Bikers.

The guy in charge of Maintainence at a Chemical Plant is a President of a Biker Group locally. They/we pretty much want to get along with everyone, but all it takes is one drunk Republican to get on their bad side and there's no verbal dickin' around about it.

19. The trades teach ass kicking 101!
The Chamber of Commerce teaches Ass Licking! I joined the AFL CIO in 73 and we did watch each other's backs! I've worked out of Millwright's locals and Carpenter's locals and on composite Iron Worker crews! I was the stew on 75% of the jobs I worked on in my craft and the other 25% sucked! GOPers were, and still are, up to no good, you can take that to the bank! The GOP wants to turn time back to the coal baron days! Back to a time when nine year old kids worked in the coal mines and sweat shops and a thousand miners a year died in mining disasters! Back to the days when there were no unions to protect us!

I never went looking for trouble, but I never was one to run away from it either! The bosses don't mess with the Pile Drivers! * Ask 'em!

4. short, fat, and smart
the asskicking stopped when I went from middleschool to a vocational high in another town. Thought in the midst I realized that with a squat sticky body, and small hands, I could land a hell of a hard punch.

Some of the assholes who used to pick on me learned it too, the hard way.

I only ran away from one fight in my entire life.

6. Sure.
I've had my ass kicked in an unfriendly way by my dad, and kicked ass and had my ass kicked in a (relatively) healthy competitive way by friends and cousins when I was younger.

13. I've been studying martial arts since I was in the Peace Corps,
OMG, 30 years ago! SO, have taken it & dished it out, usually enjoyed it & found it educational. Although at one point the only sparring partner I could find was a neighbor, short, muscular guy who did drunken monkey style shaolin. DO NOT spar with such people, even if you've been studying longer than they have.

Can you imagine the love my fellow classmates felt for me?

Yes, I had my ass kicked. And as a girl, that was very rare in that school. I was beat up on the playground at recess, beat up at lunch, tortured at Girl Scouts, followed home and beat up, my house was egged, they threw rocks through my window, and all because I was a "nigger lover".

Luckily that only lasted a couple of years, until my parents could afford to put me in Catholic School. There, I only got my ass kicked by the nuns. I could handle that. ;-)

As an adult, I have never had my ass kicked, though I've come close. }(

16. Well, it's complicated.

I didn't get my ass kicked, but I did get attacked in a bathroom my freshman year because I repeated something that someone didn't like. So, the local group of thugs cornered me in the bathroom stall, and severely jammed my thumb when they kicked the door(there were no locks on the door). I couldn't write the same for a week. So if getting a jammed thumb is getting my ass kicked, sure.
Oh, but I've kicked ass. I got into something in the band room with this girl equally as lame as I was back then. I shoved her down a flight of stairs(there were only five steps!) and then I ran into the band director's office and locked the door. It was fabulous. She broke her tail bone and she was too embarrassed to tell anyone I'd pushed her.

17. I 'm 6' 5" tall, and a peacemaker...
Seriously, for some reason, I was often the one breaking up fights. I had boxing lessons, and am not afraid of pain, but I never have had my ass seriously kicked. Maybe it's my height, I don't know.

The *one* time my fanny was seriously on the line (way past negotiation and humor), I could see the absolute blind insanity in my opponent's eyes -- I knew that there was no way in hell I could whip him. So, I turned and walked away calmly, with my face intact.

A year later, the guy committed suicide. Then I *really* knew that he had nothing to lose that night.

21. I 'm also 6' 5"
As a kid, i was jumped by 4 kids and i had the crap beat out of me. Not fun. By high school nobody messed with me, i guess because of my height.

18. A buddy and I got jumped coming out of bar in Belltown
one night by some punk-bitches that we had had a minor altercation with earlier in the evening.

I got messed up pretty bad with a couple broken ribs, but my friend got it a lot worse.

22. I saw too many injuries -- decided fighting was stupid
The thugs terrorized our school, and beyond the school the city of Chicago was dangerous. I had one friend shot dead throught he windshield of a car, another shot dead in a dispute, several put in the hospital near death, I saw so many friends get injured with serious wounds, broken jaws, teeth knocked out, one was on life support and near death, etc. I have a 4 inch scar on my chest from being ripped with a pen in 7th grade, etc. I realized very early that it was pointless -- there were always tougher kids than me and they were willing to fight to the end. There is no way to beat someone who will fight to the death. Maybe if you grow up in a small town where you can have a fight and then be friends, that is one thing, but not in places with gangs; at that point, discretion is the better part of valor. So I went to the library and studied.

Luckily, I was good in sports and also stayed away from the jocks and troublemakers.
