7. I thought it was a fair question
why wasnt it a fair question?

I thought they should have answered it more plainly instead of the political answer they gave.

They wouldnt have hurt anything by just saying, if I knew then what I know now, I wouldnt have voted for it.

10. huh?
it didnt seem edited to me, do you have proof it was edited?

Since when has CBS been in the pocket of Bush or 60 Minutes for that matter? There hasnt been a single major news organization MORE positive than CBS.

if you have a shred of proof feel free, heck show me a shred of proof that CBS or 60 Minutes have a reason to make Kerry look bad, or show me a shred of proof that they are biased to the right.

heck, show me anything other than some black helicopter all media suck viewpoint.

Hopefully it will backfire. I like her, but others might not. I like Hillary and Madonna.

5. What horrible questions?
Is Leslie on the Bush payroll? I thought she was actually mean spirited and rude.

The good thing is that she made the candidates and their fabulous wives look so ENLIGHTENED!!

Sure hope we get to have an election.

8. why?
geez, why do we think any time tough questions are asked that someone must be on the Bush payroll?

If Kerry can't answer pretty softball questions from Leslie Stahl, how is he going to be able to answer tougher ones at debates?

For the record, he did ok on most of them as did Edwards.

I WANT tough questions asked of BOTH sides, the problem is that Bush isnt getting enough tough questions, not that Kerry is getting some.

12. Tough questions like how do you feel when people say he doesn't
have any charisma? So ask Laura how she feels when people say he doesn't have a brain. Or was it the comment about "watch their hands they act like it's their first interview together". The good questions she cut them off and didn't let them answer. How about a question like what are you plans to insure the masses that are uninsured. Or what are your plans on getting the troops out of Iraq. Those are tough issue questions.

16. uhhh...
yeah. That was a real opportunity that allowed both Elizabeth and John to answer the question very well.

I thought the "watch their hands" comment was quite positive, showed they werent some jaded practiced politicians but instead were nervous and looking to each other for support...made them human to me.

So in other words, because she didnt ask questions that YOU wanted to hear, then that meant that she was biased? good grief.

She asked if the Iraq War was a mistake, they wouldnt answer with a straight yes, and THEY could have answered with a plan on how to get troops out of Iraq and did not.

14. There is a difference between a softball question and a loaded question.
Stahl's questions were set-ups - she didn't really want a complete answer and even interrupted Kerry when he tried to give one!

17. I agree. I am so tired of a country more worried about if someone
is perceived as having charisma than a brain. Bush is known for charisma. Look where that got us. Looks and charisma have nothing to do with ability to make sound decisions. The media really perpetuates this. They feed on it.

19. welcome to reality
MOST people care about charisma...they VOTE on charisma...we can rail against it and say how wrong it is (and lose) or we can accept it, and use it to win (as Clinton did).

25. well, people demand charisma in their leaders
sorry that's the case.

This was a good interview for Kerry/Edwards...swing and undecided voters have several questions:

Is Kerry a flipflopper?
Does he have charisma?
Is Edwards experienced enough?
Where do these guys stand on Iraq?

Leslie asked EVERY one of those questions, and it was the perfect opportunity for them to address those voters with these questions.
If I were running the campaign and allowed to handpick the questions, I would have had her ask many of the questions she did ask.

No one planning to vote is not clued into the policy differences already.

They're REAL women, with REAL personalities and REAL opinions - unlike Laura Bush, who isn't allowed to speak to the media unles it's about libraries or the family dog.

They have chemistry, which makes me think they will work very well together. And the foursome will be great on the campaign trail.

29. I love the answer Mrs. Edwards gave...
...about John and John voting on taxes based on the good of the country and not their own personal interests. That was damn nice.

I wasn't crazy about Kerry and Edwards trying to talk over or interrupt each other a couple times. That could have been a little smoother. But if the public gets to see a similar interview with Bush and Cheney in the same room to see their interaction it'll be a helluva contrast. No chemistry, Bush will look like a subservient twit. He won't dare step on any of Uncle Dick's lines.

I know Kerry is trying to highlight the distinction between voting to give Bush the option to go to war *after exausting diplomacy* vs. flat out voting for war. But I think he needs to clean that up some. Be a bit more unequivocal. Perhaps something like: "If I knew Bush was going to abuse the options Congress voted on, and if I knew members of his admin were lying to Congress about the WMDs, then 'no' I wouldn't have voted for the IWR."

(or "'yes' the humanitarian reason were enough"--either way, be clearer)

After all, the admin lied to congress about the WMDs. What's the shame in having a different opinion now that he knows differently. Is he worried about the "flip-flopper" label? That's not flip-flopping, it's responding to Bush's lies.

32. I keep getting major Clinton-Gore vibes off of them
Which is good for me, but a little weird.
Plus, I think that Edwards is really going to have to stop interrupting Kerry to defend him when Kerry's about to defend himself. I can't see that going over well long-term.

But all in all, a good interview. They can't say straight out that they're against the war, probably because they don't have enough time to say that they're NOT against the troops as well. Because then that leads into the whole thing about whether we need more troops there, etc. All about keeping the message consistent, and, well, on-message.

33. Oh noooooo!
Fortunately I was able to get it in the South Bay with RCN and I've never had a major problem with their service. Unfortunately they don't offer service to many areas in Los Angeles.

The Kerrys and Edwards were ab fab. I liked Teresa the first time I saw her speak (in person) and just like her more and more each time I see her. I loved what the wives said about keeping their husbands honest. They all seem like they've been friends for years and I think the those gents will make an excellent team in office.
