My delicious gourmet dinner tonight cost...
...about $2.25.

OK. A nice bottle of Italian Pinot Grigio, which I will finish momentarily, was $6.50 so the total Total is about $8.75 for such a great meal.

What did I have?

10. Well,
if you lived in Newton County AR, you would have bought your whole wheat angelhair pasta for about 77cents at the food distributors. The aged Parmesian would cost about a buck, and you'd use fresh basil from your garden to make the pesto. The rest of the expense would be the extra virgin olive oil you used. Am I close?

11. 1/4 block of Brie on hearty wheat flat bread, grapes and a banana.
Friggan' delicious and filling.

The Pinot Grigio complemented the Brie beautifully.

16. Sounds great, except for the banana.
I can't even swallow them. My children had them only because I'm a Good Mother. But the brie and Pinot Grigio, sounds like a good idea.

19. Sorry, JanMichael...
Practically your whole dinner tonight sounds inedible to me: I don't like wine, I'm terribly allergic to milk and milk products, and I can't digest bananas, for some reason, which leaves me with the flatbread and grapes. Sigh... Then again, I never did like Continental cuisine. :)

I had Tandoori chicken (I make it without yoghurt using the Sharwood's Tandoori spices), jasmine rice, and chick-pea and vegetable salad with an olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, salt, and pepper dressing. I have got some great recipes, if you're interested in sharing!

20. Well, my dinner was slightly more expensive
but I made Grecian chicken -- boneless chicken breast marinated in lemon, olive oil, garlic, and oregano, then grilled. Served with Rice Pilaf, and (because I didn't have any Pouilly Fuisse around) a nice Beaujolais. French.

21. here....
....quiche lorraine and bread salad. Yeah, I know it's an odd combination, but I reallly realllly like bread salad and had the quiche leftover. Bread salad: cubes of good italian or sourdough bread, shreds of a good salami, shaved parmesan cheese, fresh basil leaves, chunks of good tomatoes, fine slices of red onion, some cured olives, and a very good vinaigrette. I made a balsamic vinaigrette with tarragon in it. You could put cucumber in it, too. Maybe pine nuts would be good.
