Bela Fleck and the Flecktones TONIGHT!!

Liberty Hall in Lawrence, Kansas. WooooHoooo! Cannot wait, cannot sit still. This will be my 3rd Flecktones concert and I wait each year for this chance. The best part is my sons are now old enough that they do not mind going with me so not only do I get to hear the Flecktones I get to enjoy them with my boys!

Are you going to go to any of the Wakarusa festival in Lawrence next weekend? If I get a wild hair this week, I may just jump in the car and drive over there.

5. I had not planned

to go but my oldest sons band may be playing, they are not scheduled however. If you decide to go let me know, I would love to drive over and meet you.

Your son must be psyched for the chance to play at the festival with some of the great bands who will be there.

for sure in about an hour if he is playing. I am not sure yet. My guess would be no since they are not on the line up. He knows a bunch of them so we will see. Do let me know if you are going.

I was looking at the lineup today. Most of the bands I really want to see are Friday and Sunday nights (Robert Randolph, North Mississippi All Stars, Donna the Buffalo, Galactic, Theresa Anderson, Los Lonely Boys, and others) and I will miss them if we drive. Nevertheless, Saturday has MOFRO (one of my favorite new bands) and the trip could be worth it just to see them.

I'll have to be feeling crazy on Friday to go, but I have had my eye on this festival for awhile.

6. I lust after

listening to VICTOR! I adore him as a person, at least what I know of him and saw him last year when he did his own tour. He was my youngest son's first large inspiration. I am hoping to meet them tonight and if I have the chance (without embarrassing my son) I plan on thanking him.

12. At Merlefest this year ...

Sam Bush, John Cowan and Pat Flynn appeared on stage together. Bela was there but for some reason didn't appear.

I've never forgiven Bela for breaking up the best band that ever was -- the NewGrass boys!

Plus, his Flecktones stuff bores me.

I love everything he does because I am simply so amazed at his, and their, musicianship. Too bad you don't like them. Ahh well, it is so good we are all different. I do agree, it is sad they are no longer together but apparently Bela needed a different direction.
