What do you think of people who... sleep late?
Lazy Losers? Lucky Bastards? Both? I'm a 5-8 AM wake up person myself.

Doesn't matter how late I stayed up, I'm one of those evil morning people.

1. It's funny
I used to be a major morning person. I mean, I was up at 5:30 no matter what. Lately though, I have been sleeping in until about 8:30-(9:00

Frankly I liked the old way better

2. I'm jealous!
I'm usually awake at 5 and up shortly thereafter to let the dogs out to pee. This morning I went back to bed when they came back in and what a great sleep I had! What is it about a second snooze that is so nice?!

11. I don't know... I sleep so much more soundly on a return to bed.....
Edited on Sun Jun-13-04 04:50 PM by hlthe2b
This morning I woke up at 4 am-- really. Got up briefly, but my pup didn't ask to go out, so I went back to bed until after 9. And, I slept very soundly! (couldn't believe my dog let me sleep that long undisturbed).

I am willing to bet I get no REM sleep from midnight to 4 am, since he rare occasions I get to take a 30 minute afternoon nap, leaves me feeling totally refreshed, but almost frightened by how heavily I sleep. I feel like I just came out of a coma....

15. I have the same experience!
Very comfortable and almost like a coma...maybe it's just the idea of being able to get a little extra sleep and the fact that the pup lets you do it!

3. It's about 4:40 here....
...and I woke up about an hour ago (with a nasty hangover).

I'm definitly not a morning person. Even when I'm not hung over, I can't wake up.

And I do consider myself a lazy bastard.

The early bird gets the worm.

And they're still in bed, while I'm stuck eating worms!

Lucky bastards! :grr:

7. I envy them
Even on my days off, I never sleep in. Not because I don't want to, but because I just wake up anyway and can't go back to sleep

8. i'm a morning person
i am up at four every morning, five at the latest.

for me it is quiet time. coffee and quiet till five than a little BBC news before my day really begins.

on the few days out of the year that i sleep late,
i feel my whole day is shot and i'll do nothing.

sometimes i envy people who sleep late.

my overall philosophy though is, to each his own.

9. Not necessarily lazy...some circadian rythms are just different....
I'm totally a night person....my mother even said I was more active in her stomach at night. I prefer to sleep late and do so when I get the chance.

Unfortunately, people who tend to stay up late and sleep late are considered lazy when that's not necessarily the case.

Now, if someone goes to bed at an decent hour and sleeps late, I don't think anything is wrong with that, except if they do so excessively. Then I tend to think that person is depressed rather than lazy and should seek help.

I have always been a night owl....although I rarely sleep past 8:30 unless I worked late into the evening....

12. I just woke-up about an hour ago.
And I pretty much think okay of myself. :P

I am so not a morning person. Getting up at 6am every morning for my classes or hospital rotation is the toughest thing about radiography school for me.

I played video games from about 10pm until 630am. YAAAY!

13. I think you late sleepers are wimps!
If you don't get up at 3:30 in the morning on Sunday so you can go run five forklift batteries dead moving 4400-pound skids of shingles around before 8 AM, you're just not living right!

16. I'm NOT a morning person
(During the summer at least) I'll be up until about 5.30 then sleep until 12.30. But once I'm up, I'm really up (I get a lot of work done early morning).

17. night owl here.
i really wake up about 10:30 p.m.
not that i haven't put in a full day.

i should be going to bed.
instead that's when the fun begins.
it's quiet.
everybody else is asleep.
it's great, if only for looking at the stars.
or fiddling around on DU.

must sleep late at least once or twice a week.
sleeping until your body is just ready to wake up -- say, 11 or noon -- is heaven.

But most of the time I'm up at that time. I usually see you around 9-12. It's good to be an early riser, start the day ahead of everyone else.

24. I think very highly of late sleepers
especially since I'm one of them. :D

I wake up around 8 or 9 usually.

But the past couple of years, I've had more nights where I wake up at 3-3:30 and can't get back to sleep until 5-5:30.

25. I have always been a night-owl and a late sleeper.
I never even got up early on Saturday mornings to watch cartoons like other kids. Now that I'm an adult working 8 to 5, I still have trouble going to bed early enough to get enough sleep, so by the time the weekend rolls around, I make up for it by sleeping til noon and taking a late afternoon nap too!:-)
