Please, please tell me what these terms MEAN?
"asshat" and "assclown"

I'll admit that I laugh like a dumb jackass whenever I see them in a post but I'm damned if I can figure out where they come from or what they mean. Please, I'm beggin' here....

1. The first time I heard "assclown" was in the movie "Office Space".
One of the characters named Michael Bolton called the real Michael Bolton "A no-talent assclown." What does it mean? I don't know exactly, but it ain't good.

2. IIRC
"assclown" comes from the movie Office Space. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will be along to correct my mistake. As for "asshat",

3. Don't know the context...
...but are they referring to Ashcroft? I've seen his name written 20 "asskinds" of ways.

4. IMHO, it's a way of skirting censorship rules
Example, one can say ass at work, it has two possible meanings. One can certainly say hole. Put the two together, and you could be in trouble.

The hat and clown suffixes to ass are merely a way of expressing resentment to assparty.

Hat ~could~ come from Southpark, when Wendy got caught sneaking a note to Stan, saying she'd like to wear his ass as a hat, thus launching the fark.com asshat revolution

5. I have heard
that 'asshat' is a way of saying one has one's head up one's butt. Think about it. If you've got someone else's ass for a hat, it's sexual. If you've got your own...cranio-rectal syndrome.

As for 'assclown' I'm not certain but I suspect its just an extended and colourful way of assuring the listener that some clown is making an ass of himself.

6. Asshat
Here's the definition, courtesy of Television without Pity where they use the term constantly...

Asshat: One who has his/her head up his ass, thereby wearing said ass as a hat. E.g., "Fox executives are asshats for cancelling Futurama."
:)
