How early is too early to mow your lawn?
I took my wife to the airport at 6 this morning, & couldn't go back to sleep. I live in Chicago, where the yards are small & the neighbors are very nearby. I figured I'd better wait until late morning.

Is there any proper etiquette for this???

2. If you have a loud gas mower...
...I think 9am is the limit. You mihgt check with your local community and see what the noise ordinances say. If you have a quiet manual or electric mower I don't think it matters. Again, check with your community.

7. I have both kinds of mowers
Bought an electric, was given a really loud gas mower by my in-laws.

The electric stinks - takes forever and gets clogged. Plus, I've run over the damn cord several times!!!

4. I would say 9AM. After all you want to mow before it
gets too warm.

8. I prefer late August.
It gets a little tall, but then the drought and heat kill it off for me.

17. It's all relative.
If your neighbors' grass is taller than yours, it's too early.

And yes, the rules permit you to select the tallest patch in their yard for comparison to the shortest patch in yours. In case of a tie, the rematch is the next (rainless) weekend.

Scattering fertilizer on their yard is frowned upon, and risky. Insects, birds, etc. can carry that stuff back to your yard with unintended results.

18. After 8:00 AM here for me personally.
If I wait until noon, I am screwed with the heat. It gets close to 100 or more for about 3 months at least. Tx is hot.

19. Not before 10am
Especially on a Sunday. Had a neighbor who thought 7:00 am was great. Was tempted more than once to ping a b.b. off his head.

Noon at the absolute earliest.

If I am sleeping one off, then you must wait until the next day.
