Best Concert Movie?
For me it's a tie. Either "Stop Making Sense: The Talking Heads" or "Home of the Brave: Laurie Anderson (is that out on DVD yet?)".

23. Same here, Fleetwood Mac
The Dance. I only wish they'd do one of the concert I went to Thursday night so that I could drool over Lindsey anytime I feel like it. :D

10. Another vote for AC/DC
I have it in VHS ('m really kind of surprised that it's not on DVD).

Saw it in a theater when it first came out; a mid-night show.
There wasn't a sober person in the audience. When the movie started, the sound was at "normal" theater volume. After about 5 minutes of the crowd screaming and protesting to "turn up the fucking volume", management got the clue and cranked up the sound a notch or two. That still wasn't nearly enough; again another 5 minutes or so of "turn up the fucking volume. This time the projectionist wisely turned it up as much as those poor old pre-Dolby speakers and sound system would allow.

I think they got the hint when the empty beer bottles were being thrown at the screen  :headbang:

8. Stop Making Sense is awesome...
Edited on Sat May-22-04 08:47 PM by webster_green
I've seen it a hundred times and its still great.

I saw them on that tour when they played Berkeley. There wasn't a dry seat in the house.

Won the Academy Award for best documentary in 1983, directed by Jonathon Demme.

17. I missed Hendrix, but I thought The Who were terrible

Daltry's voice was wretched - but almost everyone else tells me I'm wrong - that they indeed were very good. Granted I didn't get much sleep that weekend.... :)

18. I can tell you what the best one of them all is
but you haven't seen it.
"The MC5: A True Testimonial"
spliced together from reels and reels of film shot by Rob Tyner's wife. It's now finished and advance copies were actually sent to reviewers and writers, but tragically, its market release has now been halted by litigation that looks like it could last for years.
Those who have seen it say that it's unbelievably great.
And no, I haven't seen it but just knowing that it's the MC5 means that it has to be the best, as far as I'm concerned.

I am partial to Gotham, from the Bauhaus Resurrection tour, but that's because I was there!!

Then of course, there's the classic Ziggy Stardust film from Bowie's last concert as Ziggy.
