Anyone miss the band At The Drive-In???
Edited on Wed May-19-04 06:46 PM by northwest
Man, if they would've stayed together, I really think a new musical movement would have started. These guys were more than just a kick-ass new type of sound. They were the embryonic stage of a new movement in rock, which was unfortunately aborted with the breakup of the band. The band that replaced it, Sparta (with 3 of the former members) was all right, and had a couple great songs, but they couldn't compare at all.

I mean, think of the possibilities of everything in the rock genre if they would have stayed together. It could've been bigger than Grunge. These guys had their OWN UNIQUE SOUND.

I'm listeng to "One Armed Scissor" and "Pattern Against User" right now, and it kicks ASS.

1. Mars Volta is way better!

You gotta see them live. They go on these Santana-like rock freak outs with a great keyboard player. I think it's way better stuff.

2. agreed
Mars Volta is awesome. I tend not to use terms like "better", but they are awesome and an excellent progression from At the Drive In.

3. Over-rated I thought.....
I have all ATDI's record but they do nothing for me.

Strangely enough I found those two main guys (Omar and Cedric) to seem like totally annoying pricks. Yet I really like the Mars Volta record. Go figure.
