How does one find/use/search filesharing newsgroups

I here chatter about these things and alt binaries or whatever and I'm completely clueless about where they are, what exactly they are, or how a person uses them. But evidently you can find alot of good stuff on there that you can't even find on Kazaa.

Please if someone could fill me in lamens terms

1. You can use the clunky viewer in explorer

Tools>Mail and News>Read News

Or get a newsreader like Free Agent

Pick "retrieve new groups" and expect it to download a list of 30,000-50,000 available newsgroups.

Subscribe to one or more newsgroups then download the headers in your subscribed newsgroups.

Chose one or more headers then download.

2. check with t he FBI

I understand they have a pretty thurough list of methods and locations. Just let them know your interested in getting into file sharing and they will hook you up with the right department :)
