Origins: On our "Shortchanging the Subject" page we cite some legendary examples from students who, faced with essay exam questions they couldn't handle, chose to answer completely different questions instead.

13. Actually I meant
you'd need more letters to give a truthful grade letter, sice the Latin alphabet has only 26.

Bah. A joke explained loses all the fun. :eyes:

8. Doesn't it break the monotony?
To read those funny answers though?
Any creative answer should get at least partial credit.

3. Having graded many chemistry exams...
this ones pretty good. Most of the "humorous guesses" aren't that funny, just things like "a banana" or "false."

12. This is a college level course?
I've covered this stuff in Chemistry as a Sophmore in High School. This is easy shit.

OTOH, I did the same thing on a Lit test this year. There was a pop quiz on the final section of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and I hadn't read the section. Questions included "How does The Chief escaped?", which I subsequently answered with "He dug himself out with a spoon." Admittedly, not as funny as this guy's answers, but I got partial credit for creativity, despite the cliché-ness of it all.
