Anybody worked at the Olive Garden?
I just started up day one of training there to be a server. I need to know if I should continue pursuing this job or move on and work at Home Depot making 10 bucks/hr. I am a very outgoing/positive person if ya needed to know.

1. I worked there five years ago...
Wasn't too bad...tips were fine. I hated the GM, but the other managers liked me. It just depends on if you want steady cash, or bouts of making 200 bucks one weekend, and then maybe 90 the next. It's not predictable. I'd go for the Home depot job. It's must less stress. But hey, the food's good and you get half priced food as long as you're working, and 25% off for you and six of your friends if you're not. Go with your gut. Only you can decide.

2. Home Depot = Bush Supporters
I've boycotted them.

And you'll be risking your life working there:

A major expose by the Atlanta Business Journal finds that "since 1999, at least three customers and five workers have been killed in accidents in the stores" and in 2002 the number of OSHA violations at Home Depot jumped 45%.

6. Is it worth your life?
You stand a 45% greater chance of having an accident working there.

And considering three people have died in Home Depot stores, it probably won't just be a scratch.

7. Work at Home Depot...

I worked there, and they give raises often. You wil make more there eventually.

If you are looking for short term, than maybe serving is better.

If you are just trying to party right now and make extra money for school or something, than serving is the way to go.

If you are trying to get a stable job, with good benefits and a good pay rate, tha Home Depot would be the better choice. I have friends that work at Home Depot who make 16 an hour mixing paint.

10. It depends on the Home Depot
Although they are Bush supporters, they treat their employees well and we're at least attempting to fix the safety problems. Which is more than I can say for Wal-Mart, who when large numbers of associates started getting killed responded by taking out dead-peasant policies on all their hourly associates. (My wife went on a "safety tour" of a Sam's Club a couple weeks ago; her boss pointed up at this thing they were doing and told her to count the number of OSHA violations. They were manipulating a huge trampoline that hangs over their registers while customers were checking out through the same registers.)

One of the "ways" is starting to piss me off, though; you can program Maximum Lift into a reach truck, and someone decided to plug in a Max Lift value that's less than some of the merchandise, and 1000 lbs less than the maximum capacity of the truck.

I like The Home Depot. They've been good to me.
