The pop star crowd appeal of George W. Bush...loved by the young and old

Wisconsin loves George W. Bush, and...apparently...George W. Bush loves Wisconsin. (Copeland Park in La Crosse, Wisc., Friday, May 7, 2004).

2. Here's the scary thing.
It's true. I cannot begin to enumerate the number of people I have talked to who support him because of his personality or because "he's like your neighbor". Or that he's honest. Trustworthy.

How blind and stupid are people?!?!

Yes, he's like your neighbor if your neighbor is a rich snob who went to an Ivy League school Daddy bribed, is the son of a former president, and avoided the draft by disappearing to some undisclosed location in Texas or Alabama.

Oh, and if your neighbor is a wealthy former oil executive and former part-owner of a baseball team.

And, if your neighbor is surrounded by neo-cons who want to rule the world.

Yeah, I have lots of neighbors like that.

4. That's all Bush has going for him
Notice no one mentions his record as president. BTW, what state do you live in?

9. Nebraska.
You're right about his record - people here act as though what he's done is irrelevant. Doesn't matter that he started a pointless war or that he's trashed the economy and the environment. Doesn't matter that he's taken cronyism to a new and appalling height.

He's still trustworthy and honest. What?!?!

Blind faith is blind, indeed.

I'm in Nebraska, much to my ongoing dismay. One of the reddest of the red states. x(

10. Me too. This place is like a black hole of political intelligence. No
matter what these clowns do, the citizens of this state are just fine with it. The denial factor is off the charts.

But oddly enough, Warren Buffett is a Kerry supporter. Go figure.

11. Yep, the key word is denial.
And it very accurately describes what happens here.

I like Warren. He's always been quite open with his political beliefs, and he's kind of the anti-Nebraskan.

6. Stockholm syndrome. . .
wherein one is lulled into a false sense of security by their captors/abductors. . .It's the singular explanation I can fathom for this obtuse phenomenon.

7. Popularity
Remember, photos like this are NEVER of Bush circulating in a crowd of average citizens-- every person, every baby, every COW in these photos has been screened & hand-picked by the RNC.

13. You're right, and as the Reverend Jim Jones was fond of saying...

...Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

"Ah'm George W. Bush, and I do NOT approve of this message."
