Sometimes you score BIG at the thrift store...
You'd have to be a bikee to understand, but I'm tickled...

Tonight's find:

Schwinn "Supersport", second in quality only to the "Paramount", with hand-brazed filet-brazed frame. unfortunately, the frame is garbage, because the top tube has a kink in it.

Bit...
I have 2 fair wheels with "schwinn approved" Mavic QR hubs, Weinmann 27X1-1/8 rims.

Weinmann side-pull brakes.

And......

The rest of it is Shimano "105". Cranks, shifters, deraileurs, freewheel...AND "Biopace" chainwheels.

Price?

$10.99....:7

Week before last it was a Raleigh USA "Technium 440" aluminum framed in my daughter's size. Dirty, and with rotten tyres, but for $15.99 was I gonna complain?

I love thrift stores!

3. Hey, you'll REALLY chuckle over this...
Shimano "333" shifters...Sakae "Maxy" crankarms...Suntour "Altus" deraileurs...."Atom" Freewheels (that's right, folks, he said "freewheels", not "Cassettes")

Sorry, around HERE, when you say "Ten Speed" that means 5 in the back and 2 up front, not 10 in the rear..."STI" is something you wear rubbers to avoid...

BiggJawn's Frankenbike Farms, where "Old School" is ALWAYS in session...

BTW, I'm probably older than your dad, too....

2. Had a Schwinn Varsity once.
I bought it from Billy Ford (yeah, THAT Bill Ford) when we were in eighth grade together ca. 1971, almost new for $20. It got stolen a few years later after I'd put a couple thousand miles on it.

4. Amen, Bruthah!

Today I scored a beautiful Persian carpet, 7'6" X 10'6" in excellent condition! $100.00. Saw on exactly like it for 2K in a store recently.

Best finds? $300.00 necklace (appraised value) in a $1.00 bin
and a solid 22 kt gold watchfob with garnet and obsidian inlay for 25 cents.

Being one who loves to spread light instead of darkness, I paid $10.00 for the necklace, delighting the seller and $10.00 for the fob.

Weirdest/coolest find? An expensive inlaid cigar box with a brass plaque reading "Gift of Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos" with the country's coat of arms in ivory on the top.

Oh, and the cane toad coin purse! TOO cool!
