1. For those in Austin wishing to recycle their phones...

...there is a drop-off box in the Winters Building at 51st and Lamar. Those phones are reconditioned and given to women's shelters as emergency phones.

2. I donated mine to a local woman's shelter

They fix up the phones and give them to women who are in abusive situations. PHones are limited to who they can call, but if they are in trouble they can get help
