Watched “the Commitments” again last night.
That is absolutely one bodacious movie. Every time I’ve watched the movie I’ve fallen in love with Maria Doyle Kennedy. Anyone else like the movie?

Jimmy Rabbitte: What do you play?
Failed Drug Buyer: I used to play football in school.
Jimmy Rabbitte: I mean what instrument.
Failed Drug Buyer: I don't.
Jimmy Rabbitte: Then what are you doing here?
Failed Drug Buyer: Well, the line was so long I thought you were selling drugs.


Jimmy Rabbitte: The Irish are the blacks of Europe. Dubliners are the blacks of Ireland. The Northside Dubliners are the blacks of Dublin.

Jimmy Rabbitte: Elvis isn't soul.
Jimmy Rabbitte, Sr.: Elvis is GOD.
Jimmy Rabbitte: Well, I never pictured God with a fat gut and a corset singing "My Way" at Caesars Palace.

3. One of my faves...
The energy in this movie is amazing... The music and backstory of these people was so interesting...you really felt you knew each person - what a great job!! I should get the DVD...

Except I grew up in working class Belfast - 100 miles away.

We had a band too.

That was my youth in the 60's

9. I was surfing around channels last week...
.... and stumbled on it. I saw it when it came out, but I only caught the last 15 minutes or so on tv.

What a terrific movie. Almost made me want to be Irish :)
