Attention Blues Music fans!
On July2-4, there is one of the biggest and best Blues Fests in America. The 20th annual Mississippi Valley Blues Fest, in Davenport, IA is on during those dates, and I'd like to invite any and all Blues Lovers out to the banks of the beautiful Mississippi River to see it. We have a GREAT lineup thisa year, 4 stages, non-stop music. Bob Margolin, with Pinetop Perkins, Hubert Sumlin, and others, Taj Mahal, Eric Sardinas, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Charlie Musslewhite, and Rod Piazza are just some of the performers appearing. Whether you like rockin' Blues, "traditional" Blues or something in between, the MVBF has it. The main problem is that it is usually hot and there is just too much great music. For further details, check out www.mvbs.org. Hope to see at least a few of you there!

1. East Coast Blues Fans...Memorial Day Weekend!
Check out the Chaddsford Winery Blues Festival (www.chaddsfordwinery.com). Looks to be a good 3 days, especially Memorial Day from 3:30-6. ;)

(For those of you who haven't been following along, that's when my band, The New Kings Of Rhythm, will be playing.)

2. I'll be there, for sure
at the Mississippi Valley Blues Fest. Of course, it's only about 2 miles from my house.

Really great lineup this year. I'm looking forward to it.

3. Oh, I thought you said BLUES fans.
Then I realized Skip James, Charley Patton, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Blind Willie McTell, Robert Johnson, Brownie McGhee, and Son House are all dead.

:P

4. I've seen several of those here
on the west coast at the Monterey Bay Blues fest. Which I'm missing agian this year. :-(

Way too many major chores, and too little money, happening in late June this year for me.

For west coast blues fans, Monterey is a great place to spend a few days. I've never been to the blues fest that I didn't gain 5 lbs., though. The temperatures are moderate, the bay is 5 minutes away; the aquarium, fisherman's wharf, and old town call as well as the music.

Now I feel really disgruntled. :evilfrown:

If you head that way, you'll see:

Friday, 6/25/2004 7:00 Alvon
8:20 Solomon Burke

Saturday, 6/26/2004 11:30 Nitecry
12:50 Keb Mo
2:10 Clarence Carter
INTERMISSION
6:00 Sean Costello
7:20 Bobby Blue Bland
8:40 Little Milton
10:00 Etta James

Sunday, 6/27/2004 1:00 Gospel Hummingbirds
2:20 Harry Hypolite
3:40 Teeny Tucker
5:00 Koko Taylor
6:40 Ashford & Simpson

on the main stage, with plenty more on the other 2 stages.

OMG I just actually read the schedule. I can't believe I'm missing Etta James.
