Was the pro-life 'contingency' well-behaved in Washington D.C.
Or were they in their usual form of hurling insults and explicit photographs?

2. Most were fairly well behaved.
Of course a few were damning us all to hell. Some freepers were taunting passersby with irrelevancies like "Keep your laws off my SUV."

4. I'd say yes. I've seen worse. I wouldn't have shook hands but they
stood up and made their point and that's it.

Only one anti-choice mouthed a curse at me. But then again, maybe it was because I was carrying "My Passion", which was a homemade crucifix with dripping blood and an unwrapped upside clothes hanger on it to remind everyone about illegal abortion techniques.

5. I heard one guy yelling out dyke and homo..
Edited on Mon Apr-26-04 11:03 AM by jonnyblitz
depending on who he was yelling at. Another guy had a t-shirt with the word "homo" with a line through it. I guess they link homosexuality with abortion somehow...

of the "homosexual agenda"? Convincing straight women to stop breeding is item number 4 on the master plan. :eyes:

Homosexuals are major contributors to the unwanted pregnancy problem.

9. For the most part, I believe they were too scared of the numbers.
I only had one person say anything to me, well, it wasn't even to me, it was to a woman from my bus group. We got separated from our group, but they buddy system prevailed as we two made our way back to the Metro. My friend Andrea was wearing a pink baby-tee that said "Radical Feminist" on it, and some teenage pro-life girl ran out of a group of five teenagers and yelled something like "Radical Feminists Don't Kill Women!" which was pretty tame.

They didn't get aggressive, and none of their guys said anything with us, but this was away from the Mall and they may not have wanted to eff with me when there's no fence or cops between us.

12. What were they arrested for?
Were they trying to stop the march from moving? There was a long stall at the very beginning of the march, and I was wondering if it was because lifers were blocking the path.

14. They just don't get it
The point of pro-choice is really the fact that we, as women, don't want our bodies to be legislated and enslaved by the government. I find it hilarious that pro-lifers are the same people that vote down welfare, and other programs that benefit children and families. Seems to me that if you are truly against abortion you would do anything in your power to enable families to provide for children. Let's not forget that pro-lifers are the same group that is against providing free birth control and sex ed.

I had this same discussion with a pro-lifer and her response was, "it is up to us to stop the killing but not our responsibility to fund low life families". How very lovely. So I guess the starvation of children is of no concern to them.

My brother has this dogma:
The right wing will not allow you to terminate a pregnancy you don't want, force you to have the child, pull away any funding to raise that child and when the child steals food we will just invoke the death penalty. So basically they want to choose who is terminated and would like to wait and let the child suffer first.

17. twelve were arrested for demonstrating without a permit
as heard on the local radio news. They had a sound byte in the report; the guy was yelling "this is censorship!"

No, you asshole, it's demonstrating without a permit. If you want to be out here and exercise your rights, you still have to play by the rules.

18. Pro-birth
is how I describe most of them. They don't give a good goddamn about the child after it has been born, they just want to punish a woman for enjoying sex.

That said, it applies to most of them, but not all of them. Bertha and I have neighbors who are pro-life; they've adopted three children, and, MHO is that gives them the right to call themselves pro-life.
