Has anyone here read the Iliad in old Ionic?
I read it in Middle School and decided to start re-reading it last night. Ir's more difficult than I had remembered. I don't have any supplemental materials, and I'd be lost without all of my marginal notations.

But, wow, what a story, huh? I'm glad I took Latin and learned the history of the Gods. I wish I had payed closer attention, however.

5. We read it in 5th grade
So my retained memory of it is very, very meager. :dunce:

We had books that had the old Finnish next to the English translation, so we kind of read both over the course of the entire year.

All I can remember was that Vainamoinen was a complete badass, and there was this part where he had to get some magical boots to walk over some dangerous land. And there was a witch (named Poujola??) who made everyone's life miserable, and I wondered why no one bothered to just kill her. Lemminkainen was cool, but the big V was untoppable.

I read the Odyssey in Homeric Greek.
