How many beers can YOU put away?
This isn't meant to be any sort of opportunity for braggadocio. I'm wondering 'cause of a story in LBN concerning "heavy social drinkers" who may suffer slight brain damage. Folks they're talking about have 100 drinks a month. Now, I'm a lush. But an average of 25 drinks a week seems to be somewhat more than social drinking. I guess three glasses of wine with every dinner seven days a week and a couple of cocktails would get you there, but does anyone really do that? Sounds more like three drunks a week to me. Is that "social"?

So, tell us about your drinking: With meals? Weekends? How many drinks to get drunk? How many are you physically capable of imbibing without becoming ill or passing out?

1. A whole six-pack.
I'll pick one up in the grocery store, and my wife will say,"Put that away!" and I do. It's incredible. :7

2. Matters what type of beer ...
A good beer like Sam Adams, I could do a 12 pack.

Coors Light / Corona / Water - Don't know. Got bored and switched to real beer.

4. I could probably do a sixer or so.....
before I get really drunk. But thats from someone who can make a six-pack last for a week. Not a big drinker here, I have other vices. :smoke:

5. That's pretty easy to do if you drink regularly, actually.
Two or three a night, then say six or more Friday and Saturday. Lots of people drink that much.

And I drink maybe once a month, sometimes a little more often; usually about two or three beers. I don't need much. I'd rather get a pleasant buzz than get completely drunk. As for how many I CAN drink...well, beer is kind of bulky. Hard to drink a lot of it. I think my record is something like 14 or 16 in about 6 hours, and that was years ago, back in my early 20's.

7. See, is that very common, tho?
I guess it is...just seems like a lot of drinking to me. I like some wine or beer with dinner but not every night, and then to get pleasantly buzzed both nights on the weekend...I mean, how many years of that before you become an alcoholic?

6. Oh, cases and cases.
Besides the cabinets under the sink, there's the basement. And I suppose I could even put some away in the garage, if necessary.

The problem is that I only drink a beer or two every couple of months, so why would I want to store a lot?

8. None - Hep-C means I'll never drink again!
And it's really strange being sober with all these drunks around!

9. 10+ 24-pack cases of 12-oz beers
Edited on Thu Apr-15-04 01:07 PM by TXlib
Plus several 3-gallon kegs.

One way to tell that you're a homebrewer is if you've got 10 gallons of beer in your home.

Another way is if you don't think 10 gallons is a lot of beer.

I currently have 25 gallons of beer, and 35 gallons of mead sitting around.

11. It depends
Edited on Thu Apr-15-04 01:35 PM by Donkeyboy75
on how much room I have in my fridge

;)

In my younger and dumber days, I drank a twelve pack in 1 hour and 39 minutes, and spent the next few hours staggering around campus.

I think I drink a decent amount, but I probably don't hit the 100 per month mark. A beer a night, then maybe tie one on during the weekends. Haven't noticed any drain bamage yet :)
