Can you tell me what language my son is singing? I think it may be Hebrew
Okay...my son learned this song last month at school...
as I recall it was the weekend of the Purim holiday... he came home singing this song... and he keeps singing it...
Now I think it is really cute but I have no clue what language it is and when I asked him what it was he has no clue.... now i could call the music teacher and ask....but that would be too easy....

so below are the phonetic lyrics...

Aksha Aksha

ba kees ah rah ah ell

toomba toomba toomba

ba kees ah rah ah ell

They have realaudio clips, if you can stomach realaudio. Hang on, I'll see if I can find something with mp3s...

Edit: Here's a bunch; don't know if it'll be here, but there's a lot of stuff: http://jnul.huji.ac.il/dl/music/purim/purim_eng.htm#selihot

7. What you wanted to do was google "toomba toomba toomba"
Edited on Sun Apr-11-04 08:44 PM by undisclosedlocation
and you would have found this: http://www.thebucknerhome.com/camp/songs/songsn.htm

Edit: It's the only hit for that title; I suspect that the language might be gibberish.

8. It's Hebrew
"ba kees ah rah ah ell" contains the word "Israel"

I'm not sure about the rest.

10. I think what he is singing is the chorus to a longer song
but the chorus is the only part he remembers....
he even got his little sister into the act....

13. Purim is a Jewish Holiday, so it would be Hebrew.

14. but I didn't know that for sure..
my son attends public school and we are not jewish so aside from the way the music sounds and the fact that he learned this song the week of Purim (the only reason I know that is because NPR did a special on it that week..)...I was just guessing and I guessed right!
