Poll question: Techies - is the video card worth keeping?
My old video card, using the nvidia 4600 video chipset, performed great at 1024x768 but so-so at 16200x1200. Linux's GLXGEARS program registered 4114 at 1600x1200 (which is roughly the same speed that an ATi Radeon 9800 Pro gets under Linux!). The display was a bit fuzzy though.

The new card, using a nvidia 5900FX video chipset (overclocked) performs much better at 1600x1200 and is blisteringly fast at 1024x768, though gaming can still be sluggish if I overtax it. But the display is very crisp by comparison. GLXGEARS reports a performance indicator 6200 at 1600x1200. Basically, glxgears reports a 33% improvement.

The video card had cost $220.

Should I return it?

Thx!

1. I vote to keep it
But what the hell do I know. I still use a Voodoo III and it works great for everything I want to do.

It smokes!!! I normally run at 1024x768, but I can crank it up when I want to. Really stable architecture. I had a GF4 4200 before, and it gave some games like Neverwinter Nights fits. This card is like the Rock of Gibraltar in comparison. The only down side was that the 5700FX card is HUGE! I say keep it.

edit: the 5700Fx has 128MB of DDR.
