Energy firms paying tab for GOP trip
Wed Jan 7, 7:28 AM ET

By Jim Drinkard, USA TODAY

A dozen or more congressional Republicans will gather at a resort in balmy Phoenix this week to hear the legislative wish lists of Western coal, power and mining companies - and raise money from them.

The four-day conference begins today with a $1,500-per-person round of golf and private dinner, dubbed "Mulligans and Margaritas." The money raised from industry officials will be divided among the re-election campaigns of the lawmakers, most of whom serve on committees that oversee the mining and energy industries.

1. Dude, the GOP is NOT worse than the Ba'ath Party
Think about what you just said. The Ba'athists tortured and murdered tens of thousands, perhaqps more. They were dogmatic stalinist types with a thirst for violence and torture.

Now, I cannot vouch for Amerika in 2050, but whoever Uday and Qusay Bush turn out to be around then or later might give the Ba'athists a run for their money, but right at this moment, that's a ludicrous statement.

2. At Least...
...the Ba'athists tortured the people directly, and not with bogus bills and laws that cut assistance to those most in need.

Medication for AIDS patients goes up 5 times what it was, Social Security benefits for retirees goes up 2.1% while actual medical costs
goes up by 3 times that amount.

Programs for those most in need are cut, the education bill is underfunded.

Of course all this is done under the table and behind closed doors, and the controlled media makes like it's the best thing since peanut butter crackers.

Like I said at least with the Ba'athist the Iraqi people knew what was coming, with the Republicans the American people are told one thing and when they least expect it they get screwed.

While the Ba'athists were thirsty for violence and torture, the Republicans seem to be thirsty for money and power, and they don't seem to care if people die, as long as they are poor, gay, elderly,
or disabled.

And I don't think it's going to take until 2050, if Bush wins the another term 2005 will be the magic year.

Which is worse knowing what's going to happen, or not knowing.

3. Based on THIS article?
The GOP is worse than the Baath Party based on this? Surely, you must be joking.

Wait, are you? Have I missed something?
