Have we completely lost our minds?
Almanacs, airspace over Vegas, duct tape, Canadians not born there must have special visas, journalists must have special visas...

It goes on and on, and all I can think of is the Communist hysteria I grew up with.

Watching the replay of Hardball this AM I see Chris Hitchins and some other rightwing gasbag telling us Mad Cow is no problem, but the Democrats are leading us to our doom and destruction by daring to talk about it.

Bianca whatshername is telling us about the "security problem" when some drunken jerk stole a bus and went for a joyride. This after some poor slob in a small plane buzzed the Statue of Liberty and will undoubtedly have his ticket pulled after his requisite month in some dungeon. We're all gonna die!

Now we have every airline in the whole world is on notice they can't even fly NEAR here unless they put air marshals on board when we tell them to. And Tom Ridge just noticed that people making connecting flights don't have to go through security checks while making the connection. And small airports might be targets.

The military is stretched to its breaking point and local responders aren't doing much better. Cops are supposed to watch for terrorist activity and ignore rapists and drivebys? I remember when we had Corrections Dept. guys on overtime watching Newark Airport's back gates. Are we to get back to that and have those mile-long checkpoints at Westchester airport again?

It once took me 4 hours to get over the GW Bridge when they checked every car and truck.

Do we have to show ID and empty our pockets to get into every public building in the country?

Bianca's back now talking about those damn almanacs like it's serious stuff.

Is ANYONE going to say this is ridiculous?

My head is exploding.

1. If we haven't yet, we soon will! TERRA! TERRA! TERRA!

With apologies to Japanese kamikazes who (I think) struck only military targets.

2. If we keep them afraid
they remain pliable

That is the reason behind this

And mad cow is not serious (or the beef council will
loose even more money), but the rest, yuo get your life'

Try to see this from a How to scare them shitless POV and it is
easy to see

Ben knew abuot this

Those who give up liberty for security deserve neither
liberty or security

And yes this is as bad or worst than the Red Scare

... that there were minds present in the first place.

6. Buncha fraidy-cats if you ask me!
9-11 changed everything allright. We are running around like chickens with our heads cut off, abandoning the core principles of our democracy, attacking countries that had nothing to do with the WTC attacks, and pissing off the rest of the planet. The chimp says we are much safer, then we go to orange alert. WTF?

The terrorists have won. This is exactly what they wanted. Thanks to ChimpCo Inc. for caving in to fear. What a bunch of cowards!

7. I'll tell you what really scares me. It's living under a government like
we have unconstitutionally installed in the White House now. Our Founding Fathers had the intelligence and courage to understand that there are some things worse than death, and constant fear of death is the biggest one. So did Roosevelt ("The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.") A lifetime of poverty and constant tyranny by a bunch of slugs and thugs is what scares me. We fought wars to get rid of dictators who "terrorized" it's people and tried to take over other countries. Now we're allowing it to be done to ourselves, and the people who are running this country are using the excuse of "freedom" to threaten our own civil liberties and way of life. In my opinion, that's something to be afraid of.

8. We aren't insane
The fear mongers are insane to think they are too clever to get caught. It happened to Joe Mccarthy. Pretty soon even the wingnut groupies will get bored with all stupid insulting arrogant mind games
the bushtista regime keeps playing. My God, I may just go out and buy a dozen almanacs and read the damn thing. Shit, next thing they'll be putting gum chewers on their "terra" hit list. What pisses me off is them thinking everyone is sooooooooooooooo STUPID!

For God sake, these jug heads are drunk on their own madness. Least Joe was drunk on scotch :-)

9. Keep the people afraid
Before 911, the old saying was keep the people deaf, dumb and blind to what is going on is the government. Now it is keep them afraid.

10. Well if a society is based on war we need someone to hate.
I recall when they did not even want Marx read in college. As if reading about it would make us one. It just maybe we have lost our great country. We have lost being the leaders of the world. We can not take that title, It is given to you by people who think you are leaders. Bush thinking he is leading the world does not do it.

11. It's exactly the same thing as the communism scare tactic
It's the same people pulling off the same scam as a matter of fact. It is how you sell weapons and expensive terrorist prevention gear. The Bush Crime Family has always been doing this since great granddaddy armed soldiers in WW1 with Remington. You can't sell arms around the world if there is no "enemy" and if there is peace.

12. Two quotes
"Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger." - Hermann Goering

"Our government has kept us in a perpetual state of fear -- kept us in a continuous stampede of patriotic fervor -- with the cry of grave national emergency. Always there has been some terrible evil at home or some monstruous foreign power that was going to gobble us up if we did not blindly rally behind it..." - Gen. Douglas Macarthur

I will repeat them over and over until it sinks in.
