Does anyone believe that the "farm" was visible from the HQ
Edited on Mon Dec-15-03 04:37 PM by SoCalDem
and they had not "explored" it fully?? I heard a report last night from Nic Roberson , and he said that it must have been hard on Saddam to be holed up at that farm, when at night he could see the lights in his palace(which is the HQ for the unit that 'captured' him)...

The :tinfoilhat: in me says that they knew where he was, and were just waiting for the "best" time to take him.. They probably did a cursory search of the farm, and the ones who were hiding Saddam, thought they were home free..

The timing seems too opportune to ignore.. This past week Chimpy has been on the hot seat about the phonyass Thanksgiving stunt, and the Dems were getting all the press, so .... time to reel in their big fish...

1. Republican Ray LaHood claimes HE KNEW
http://www.pantagraph.com/stories/120203/new_20031202014.shtml

-snip-

BLOOMINGTON -- U.S. Rep. Ray LaHood held his thumb and forefinger slightly apart and said, "We're this close" to catching Saddam Hussein.

Once that's accomplished, Iraqi resistance will fall apart, said the five-term Republican congressman from Peoria who serves on the House Intelligence Committee.

A member of The Pantagraph editorial board -- not really expecting an answer -- asked LaHood for more details, saying, "Do you know something we don't?"

"Yes I do," replied LaHood.

2. His being able to see the palace
doesn't mean the palace was able to see him. There are quite a few places from which the Sears Tower can been seen that the Sears Tower can not see.

3. BUT... the military has been conducting explorations for MONTHS
now, and a lone isolated farm near the river would not have been searched already?? That does not pass the smell test for me.. We have been told over the months that they have explored every inch of the "Sunni triangle"..and anyplace even within sight of where the army is located would certainly be searched FIRST to remove any possibility of rpg attacks..:tinfoilhat:

4. BUT- Sadaam hasn't been in that hole for months...
Edited on Mon Dec-15-03 04:45 PM by Beaker
they said he may have moved around as often as every 6-8 hours...that particular hole was probably one of possibly dozens of places that he went between...he also had an orange taxi that he used to go from place to place, according to a report I heard. also- they said that he had probably been at that location for just a few hours when they got him.
I strongly doubt that they had him on ice, just waiting for an opprotune time to announce.

10. Why not?
I think it is safe to assume Saddam moved around. And there was no big news to deflect.

We finally found out where he was and captured him.
