My God... It's Gotten Just This Bad !!!
I just read on a couple of different threads, how the capture of Saddam will effect the DEAN Campaign!

Ha! Ha! Ha!

Shit man, the Democratic Party's party may be toast as of right now. How long did it take reality to shift the nation's eyes a tad off of 9\11?

You think this is gonna be an ADVANTAGE for ANY Dem???

I'm glad he's caught, but I'm afraid this may just guarantee another 4 year dose of the Chimpmeister.

And I REALLY hope I'm wrong about that!!!

Please let me be wrong about that!

:scared:

6. I doubt it.
First, the question must always be shoved to the forefront . . . where was the threat from Iraq. Whether Saddam is in custody or not is irrelevant. Where was the threat? Why did we invade Iraq?

Second, it must be shoved down Americas throat that Osama is still on the loose, Al Queda is still operational attacking Iraq did nothing to change that.

Third, just remember who was in office at the end of the last Gulf War, and who won the election right after.

24. we know it's irrelevant
Edited on Sun Dec-14-03 07:53 AM by Marianne
but dumb followers of Bush think the war is about gittin'Saddam,-- the bad guy who was wearing the black hat.

They think it has something to do with terrorism--the "war" on terrorism, that is.

They think the whole thing, the murder of thousands of innocents, children , babies and pregnant women, as well as the deaths of more than four hundred fifty of our troops,by the serial killer AWOL Bush, was about gittin' Saddam.

That little boy, babbly Bush had to lie to kill all of those people in the way of his spoils and oil grab, does not matter to such reptillian brains as the followers of Bush

--what matters is that the dimwitted, AWOL commander in chief, got the bad guy he promised he would. These followers are so addle brained as to probably possess the intelligence of a fruit fly when they think the war was about "gittin'" Saddam. Sand box, little two years old children playing this game--

Hell, 'Saddam captured' on Sunday news shows, 'Saddam captured' replaces Laci Petersen GOOD GOD, I'm listening to CNN in the Background and the celebratory gunfire in Bagdad is continous. (according to CNN)

Point is... this is a DEFINITE feather in the cap of *, the BFEE, PNAC, and Fox News. Please feel free to add to the list.

Can we overcome it? Will future events turn the tide?

All I want is Jr. out of power. Please Santa...

That Poppy Bush was said to be a shoe in for reelection after Gulf War I as well.

36. I Agree, And There's Still A Year To Go...
My original post was about how some, in other threads, had limited this to the effect it would have on just the Dean Campaign. I suggest, that whatever effect it has, will be visited upon all Dems to one degree or another. The politics of fear, demands results. Ole Pretzel face just counted coup!!!

45. If it's irrelevant then why was it made an issue in the past?
I clearly recall more than one of the presidential candidates commenting on the fact that "we don't know where Saddam is" during the many debates. Why bring that up if it is irrelevant?

I find it hard to believe that the capture of Saddam is irrevelant in the eyes of the average Iraqi. Frankly I imagine it is far from irrevelant in the eyes of many in the Middle East.

Finally, if it is irrelevant, why are there so many threads today on DU about the capture?

The simple answer is that this is NOT irrelevant. To pretend so is just whistling past the graveyard. This is a significant event. It may turn out to be a plus or a minus for Bush depending on how things are handled but it will not turn out to be irrelevant.

17. But, Goldstien is still on the loose
Yes, former BFEE trainees and agents at large Manuel Moriega, and Saddam Hussein have been captured. And former CIA asset Osama bin Laden may be next (closer to election time).

But Goldstien is still at large. The struggle goes on.

We have always been at war with terrorism.

32. So what? He still didn't have anything to do with 9/11
So we captured Daddy Bush's Man in Baghdad. Oh goody, another head for il Ducce to wave over the clueless, cheering rabble.

How does this help the Iraqi People? By celebrating that this will help the Shrub in the election they are admitting this whole mess had nothing to do with the liberation of Iraq, and everything to do with swaying the American voters. Not that they were fooling anybody.

Iraq is still ruled by a dictator. It's just a foreign one with a Texas accent.

33. I don't think it's so great
the attacks will not stop in Iraq and we still don't have the guy behind 9/11. Sure Saddam was a bad guy but he's not the one who flew planes into buildings and killed 3000 people.

Plus, at the rate we're going coupled with a promise from insurgents that attacks will pick up, we're probably going to catch up with Saddam's Iraqi body-count eventually.
