*....."It's the smile that fascinates.....you can't draw the voice....."
so says the incomparable Steve Bell, cartoonist for the UK Guardian, in this article regarding the "visual conundrum that is George Bush."

more:

"It's the smile that fascinates. That and the voice. But you can't draw the voice. So it has to be the smile. The way it flickers out from his prehensile pout and hovers around his cheeks. He also licks his lips a lot. Is it nerves, or is he just hungry?

Lots of Bell's work has appeared here, viciously skewering the C*imp, as well as his little poodle.

If possible, Bell is even more scabrous toward Blair, reminscent, in a way, that Ralph Steadman was toward Nixon during the re-election campaign and subsequent Watergate years.

2. that tongue sticking out the lips thing
started w/ the Sept '02 speech @ the UN. I think he was in 'speech training' during his month long Aug vacation that year. I think he was trained 2 do that to stave off the very offensive smirk. When hi delivers 'serious' speeches, he bites his tongue instead of smirking. During his stump speeches, he still looks up and smirks 2 the delight of his selected audience.

4. Yo, rozf!
You prolly have a good point about the speech training during August 02. My theory is that between the 911 attacks and his address to the nation his handlers put him on Ritalin or some other ADHD drug so that he could stay "on task" long enough to deliver his "speeches."

(Think about it: before that address, could the boy speak three sentences without six stumbles?)

The tongue-thru-the-lips thing could well be a result of the "cotton-mouth*" than can come from the ingestion of stimulants.

Or he could truly be a reptile.
