Bush article

Bush's Drinking Daughter Goes 'Pansy'

You know, some research says that those who are the most homophobic are the most likely to actually BE homosexuals. So what does that say about President George Bush? Well, we don't know if the Prez might hiding out with the queers in secret, but we do know his daughter isn't shy about hanging out with them in public. Bush's daughter Barbara was spotted recently having a gay old time at a concert by all-gay punk band Pansy Division. Barbara and friends cozied up in the back room drinking, while out front the band screamed their queer hearts out. The band reportedly dedicated their rabid anti-Bush song, Political Asshole, to the first daughter during the show. Daddy's just got to love that.

Well Don't ya know? I wonder what the folks would say.

19. I always thought it would be great to date a Bush daughter
So I could visit her parents and say "Hi, I'm a Democrat. I had sex with your daughter. Go to hell if you don't like it."

20. Don't overestimate the thrill of that. . .
It wasn't that good, and the reaction wasn't worth it.

5. gimme a break
I've seen pansy division a few times, and I _seriously_ doubt that even %25 of the crowd was gay/lesbian.

aside from that:
WTF does shrub's kid have to do with _anything_?

6. It is just the irony of it all
Maybe I should re-phrase the subject line. I meant to say that the band was all gay, not the audience.

9. Shrub's kid doesn't and neither did Chelsea
but, didn't the freepers try to make something of the Clinton parenting skills? I can't remember....

15. Some did. And there were RW jokes about Chelsea's...
looks. They were reprehensible. Let's not stoop to that level. Leave the President's family out of it, unless they voluntarily step into the political ring.

8. Sounds like a spoiled brat to me
out of her social class as an arrogant display of thumbing her nose at authority--ie, her stupid father--but nevertheless will eventually end up marrying into the upper social class, into which she has been brought up. This used to be known as "slumming" years ago. It is actually a put down--an amusement to brag about, on the part of the wealthy young , spoiled little brat of a girl.

10. The song "Political Asshole" isn't about Junior
Actually it was written before the 2000 Florida Coup. It's a song about the right wing's use of homophobia to push their political agenda. The chorus is basically "Your asshole is political" repeated over and over.

I knew that Pansy Division had fans who were "straight but not narrow", as I'm in that group myself, but I wouldn't have guessed the Bushettes were in that group. I would love to see Grandma Bar's face when she hears about this.

11. I don't know about others...
But I never really found it interesting in attacking the (p)resident's* daughters and wife (unless she made a politically related statement, etc).

Otherwise, I think we should focus on the AWOL Chimpy War Criminal, rather than his daughters and wife.

Isn't brother Ron Reagan a Democrat as well? It could be the Bush twins don't think like daddy and grandpa.

23. I loved an article Patty wrote ...
... defending the Clintons, during all those spurious allegations about Bill and Hillary "looting the White House". Patty went on and on about a bowling ball she'd swiped, and how she should fling herself at George W.'s feet and confess ... it was hilarious!

14. good for her
Poor kid, stuck with a dickhead for a father - she doesn't deserve our contempt, too. I suspect it sucks being a girlchild in the Bush family.

Clearly the kid has at least a slightly open mind.

She's probably really open minded, maybe even liberal. I can't wait for the tell-all book ten years from now.

18. The daughters didn't want dad...
...to become President. I can't recall which one, but one of them is notorious for being rather leftward in her political opinions at college. Knowing how much, for instance, my father and I differ on matters political, I have no trouble whatsoever in believing that the Bush daughters don't see eye to eye with father or Poppy. It's one of the reasons I get irritated when people try bringing politicians kids into the public sphere. The only problem one can or should have is when one of these RW thugs uses their political clout to ensure unequal treatment under the law for their kin.

24. "Dad, you're not as cool as they think you are"
www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/campaigns/ wh2000/stories/circus061499.htm

Given that the man has repeatedly referred to the twins "whining" until he agreed to build a swimming pool at the Crawford house -- I know many families tease each other, but to give such a negative impression in public is way over the top. It's not very supportive of a dad to imply that his daughters are spoiled and sulky, particularly to the press. How often do we hear him praising the twins and fussing over their accomplishments and interests?

22. What complete crap
I know this is from a gay news source but just because it is gay doesn't mean it can't be lousy. And these people appear to be lousy. If I go see the Tempations does that make me black? If I go see the Indigo Girls does that make me a lesbian? If I see REM just what am I then gay like the lead singer or straight like the rest of the band? This is unmitigated crapola and they should know better than print such garbage.
