They are a "stockholm Syndrome" nation.. They were oppressed, misinformed and underprivileged for decades.. BUT, they also relied on the Hussien regime for EVERYTHING they needed..
They are conflicted.. they wanted them GONE, but most have no idea how to survive on their own.. They will espect the Americans to "take care of them" and they are learning that America is "not gonna do it"..
We think that when we get rid of all their bad guys, they will love us.. They do not now , have not ever, and WILL not ever trust us or our western ways..
DNA to most Iraqis might as well be "ABC".. they do not understand it, and will not believe it.. We missed a HUGE chance to actually win them over, when we killed S & U, instead of capturing them at any cost..
The Iraqi people NEEDED to see them in shackles , being paraded into an IRAQI coourt.. They needed to see them on tv , being questioned..
all we gave them was some photos (poorly taken) that vaguely resembled them, but were inconclusive to most Iraqis..
All you have to do is look at the Elvis people here in the US.. Even though they saw his funeral, there are still people who "want to believe" that he just "escaped his hectic life" and is serving up slurpees in Minnesota..
Folklore and myth are staples in the middle east, and Sadaam's "boys" are now being made into mythological icons.. They will be "seen" everywhere..(they are rather stereotypical arabic males) and we missed an opportunity that we can never do over..:(
